After the decline of the Australian team following the retirement of several great players Cricket Australia has taken the initiative to create the Australian Challenge.
The Australian Challenge is a face-off between two teams, the Kangaroos XI and the Kookaburras XI. What the championship is about is giving Australia's domestic players a chance to experience a bit of international cricket, so as to strengthen the youth system, and return the Australians to the top of the cricketing world. The series will be played instead of the West Indies and Pakistan tours, which where scheduled to take place.
The two teams will face off in 5 five-day matches, 5 One Day games and 2 T20s.
