I have been waiting for sometime for this tournament to begin. Just a few days left now. The format of the tournament is a lot crisp and this is the first time that I`ve seen such a huge buildup to the Champions Trophy, maybe because its the first big ODI event after the disastrous 2007 WC. I cannot wait for the 26th of September and it brings memories of the 2003 WC flooding back. If this tournament has some close matches and with the format of the tournament being what it is now, there will be no dead games.

How is the buildup to the event in SA? Are the people warming up to it or is it not getting any publicity with the mother of all events, the FIFA World Cup just round the corner? Iam pretty certain that the India matches will all see big crowds.Just worried about the crowds for the rest of the matches.

Finally, let all the predictions of the semis lineup and the winning side be posted in this thread. Also predict your bowler of the tournament, batsman of the tournament, the big flop and surprise package of the event here. Let us hope this event is a huge success and that it prevents any unwanted changes from being made to the 50-over game.

Its an incident that Michael Kasparowiscz once talked about related to the 2005 Egbaston Test (The Ashes 2005).

Ah, well dont know if that specific innings "saved" test cricket, but the 05 Ashes most definitely reignited the passion.

I agree with the surprise team but can't say england will be a flop team, it. Will be WI. Althouh India's having the poorest bowling lineup.
