I've been having a lot of trouble trying to get the ball around Mid Wicket (the area between Square leg and Mid On) when batting. I think the problem is the lack of a proper animation for a shot going in this area, outside of animations for the aggressive or lofted shot triggers.
This is significant issue in my opinion as this narrows down the options for balls on middle/leg stump to be scored from to an on-drive (most likely straight to the mid on fielder) or a leg glance (potentially risky as this means playing across the line of the ball. The computer AI really likes to bowl fairly straight so the issue of a lack of good options to score of these deliveries is exacerbated.
What is required is an shot animation more akin to a flick or clip that can be performed without an aggressive trigger. Something along the lines of this Sangakkara shot:
Of course there are other shot animations that would improve batting in areas, the inability to play a proper square drive (L stick forward/offside + R stick offside to full balls often just leads to cut shots without any foot movement) comes to mind for instance, however I think the lack of a flick or clip through Mid-Wicket is the most egregious.
Any opinions, disagreements or thoughts on this?
