Last season The Java Kings endured a truly horrific season, with that the Pres of the club announced that a new coach would be applied, up came Jeffey Bailey a 58 year old resident in North of Gauteng (South Africa), he made the trip across to the Free State and took charge of The Kings.

The Kings reached for the first time in their history the fourth round and under Bailey have now only lost four games out of 23, his record stands at P23 W17 D2 L4

Also a lot of new recruitments were called in and also a big make over, Bailey did the unthinkable releasing no more than 11 players from their initial contracts leaving the team to struggle with only 14 players the first half of the season, fortunately that has all changed and the team are now up to 25 players. Bailey did some shopping in the market

They are Dean Keigher from Australia a good solid player with good bowling qualities, Sarath Bastianpillai from Sri Lanka, Fran Tann also from Australia while Ted Doolan, Bob Haynes and Thomas Towney are all U17 English lads that were given away at a cheap rate for their ratings. But they were happy to announce that Geoff Lawrenson was the pick of the bunch only paying ?42,000 for the English player.

Are their any players to look out for?.? The Kings boasts a bunch of great and upcoming players to the firm, but two of them that stand out are Graham Barrett and David Tolley

Let's meet the squad...

Graham Barrett - 29 yo, BT Rating=134,153
Nationality: South Africa
The Most prolific batsmen to have set foot on the HP Pavilion, at an average at 144 with over 9099 runs including 23 (50's) and 52 (100's) you'd be a very dumb man betting against him

Sarath Bastianpillai - 21 yo, BT 15,417
Nationality: Sri Lanka
Sarath become a well know figure in the King's squad when he smashed a hundred on debut for his new club, Bastianpillai was later offered the captaincy making him the first ever foreigner to captain the club.

Toby Berry - 18 yo, BT Rating=1,252
Nationality: South Africa
Yes, young and exciting but inexpierenced, Berry has played in the last five OD games and haven't done too well, although he has cemented his place in the starting FC side as opener

Dennis Binns - 17 yo, BT Rating=1,466
Nationality: South Africa
Dennis Binns is a still a newcomer, only have played in two FC games, there is still lot to expect of this player.

Zesh Halford - 34 yo, BT Rating=4,668
Nationality: South Africa
The grandad of The Kings, many say that Halford is over the wall, but not Bailey, the coach believes that Halford could go a few more seasons and he is certain that Halford in future would turn up and maybe later of time be coaching the team.

Bob Haynes - 17 yo, BT Rating=5,096

Bobby Haynes, also a young u/17, has a got a real good future looking up for him and no better way but to show it in the FC Java Kings squad

Dean Keigher - 23 yo, BT Rating=15,263

Keigher is a solid rock with the ball, the Australian took apart the batting line-up of his last two games taking six wickets in each game, Keigher is certain of getting even better...

Geoff Lawrenson - 19 yo, BT Rating=10,261

After been given a rough time Lawrenson decided to stick tough and remain even with Bailey giving him a hard time, Geoff now admits that he has settled nicely in and that now he wants to repay the team.

Mayonnaise...Mayo slotted into the OD starting line-up on arrival, his debut was a blast.

Leigh Moore - 27 yo, BT Rating=4,256

Leigh is just not your typical 27 yo, he is a mastermind some say it was he that tricked Keigher on joining the Kings when they played Keigher's former club, apparently Moore told him that South African chicks are hot.

Jay Odonnell - 18 yo, BT Rating=6,400

Odonnell sounds like a real good talent, and you bet! there is alot of pressure on this guys shoulders to impress the club and we better believe he is out to do that and more

Fran Tann - 19 yo, BT Rating=5,202
Nationaliy: Australia
Ah yes the former Kid player, Tann still remember the days with Griffo...but now it's past and Tann who currently is on the FC roster is hoping to become part of the real King's squad.

David Tolley - 29 yo, BT Rating=42,582
Nationality: South African
Words cannot desrcibe his presence, a man that every player turns to, like a Jacques Kallis you always depend on, he never seems to dissapoint.

Thomas Toney - 17 yo, BT Rating=5,459
Nationality: England
Another English lad, a young lad on top of it, Toney sure may not now be first choice material but when structeres are so strong at the moment, he is certain to play a huge roll in years to come

Bernard Townley - 17 yo, BT Rating=2,802
Nationality: South Africa
Townley also just matriculated along with his friends, when playing on the beaches one day Bastianpillai told the youngster to visit the club and so he did...he was signed that same day

The Pavilion is the Kings new stadium after they moved from Wolf Park, the stadium is at it?s fullest capacity, a lot criticism was made by fans and neutrals saying that the board wasted a lot of cash on building the stadium, the team financial director Josh Greenwood defended the case by saying ?we do know that this job has effected the team a lot but we can assure you that this was done for the long term, instead of building it up from pieces we took the opportunity and built it, look at Arsenal when they moved from Highbury to Emirates they were also slammed but now the fans are enjoying it there and so are the Pavilion faithful?

Also another big factor in the HP Pavilion is groundsman Glenn Herd, a legend in the hall of fame of the Kings?word has it that he played and was a rather decent batter no wonder scores of 300 or more is being made

For friday's crunch fixture, this is what Jeffey Bailey had to say
?Fridays away clash is a must win for us and also we have to win it by a countrymile, Barrett, Tolley and Bastianpillai returns to the squad?

Domi Nation vs Java Kings

The Java Kings travelled this time to Domi Nation, knowing that they've defeated them before at the HP Pavillion, things were going to look otherwise here today.

Bastianpillai and Lloyd went down to the midde to take the toss, Bastianpillai won it and elected to field, a tactic that's been so far so good.

Devilal Padayachie and Dean Keigher were the opening bowlers. Padayachie started like a dream in his first ever game for the Kings, getting a wicket in on his second delivery....Domi Nation slipped down to 0/1

But it was downhill for the Kings from there on, Lipalesa and scholes put on a terrific 227 stand for the first wicket, The men from the Free State had no answer to the shots that Domi Nation were pulling out.

Coming to the last ten overs....Dean Keigher who had a shocking opening spell, rectified that by doing the impossible, Keigher clean bowled Lipalesa and later got rid of Scholes and then they were 240/4 but that didn't end there he also took another five wickets...leaving them only to get 281 of their alloted overs and leaving him with figures of 10-0-41-7

The Java Kings were left a total of 282 of 50 overs. on came to bat Graham Barrett and Collin Cliffe, it was almost like Graham and Colin were playing against school kids, they were hitting boundaries like nothing but this moment was short lived and Cliffe had to go back missing out on his (40) 50 when he was caught by Pen off the Bowling of Scholes...the partnership was worth 137

So on came Bastianpillai the captain, him and Barret kept the motor running by ticking the scoreboard over and together they put on a stand of 108 runs, Bastianpillai fell victim to Lindaini for 41 and to make matters worse Barrett a few deliveries later also went down to Lindani, the so called "King of Kings" went out with another century, to be exact his 53rd in his career, wonderfully well played 150 off 122 balls...The Kings went to 246/3

Needing only a handfull of runs on came two new batsmen in Odonnel and Lawrenson, the two steadied the ship and knocked over the remaining runs steering the team to a well deserved victory and still a chance of heading the league...

MOM: G. Barrett

After the game this is what the coach had to say: " I am very pleased about getting the victory here today, but on the other hand very dissapointed in the fact that we made life so difficult for ourselves yet again..."

The Java Kings slipped down to third but now will have the relief of playing weaker teams untill the crunch battle against B.A.L.L.S that could see them finishing first or finishing last in all do or die battle, like The Kings say the sky's the limit but in B.A.L.L.S case this might be a dish best served cold...

Copycat :p

Though, seriously it is nice to see all of these Battrick stories popping up. Adds to the story forum greatly. Battrick needs a lot more exposure on this forum I feel.

Great win for your team. Did it fairly easy in the end. Good luck in future matches :)

The Java Kings have selected an understrength squad in the FC game against G Unit updates will follow

Further news Team Creative Designs lashed out on people sayin The Kings are copycats "it's been very unpleasant for us for being tagged as imitators, since we can recall is that The Kings have been on this Battrick story page since 2005" said Ian Pandor

season greetings from The Kings

It turned out to be a sour week for The Java Kings as they received the tags of chokers but Jeffey Bailey defended his team "we had 32 games this season on the trott, we were a struggling team before this season even started and where we ended is no justice to what this team really is capable off"

As they finished their FC league with a good solid victory of BIG C all eyes turned and waited for the results, hours prior to another big clash the expressions of the players told it all when BIG C were announced as the winners with no more than six points seperating the teams. In an interview with BBC Bastianpillai reported "It hurts, it really does to know that we beat them both times, but it was the other games we drawn so it wasn't so bad atleast come next season we will have some good players"
