16th November, 2007
Another sleepless night last night. Shannon, my 1 year old daughter, was wailing throughout the night. My wife is still not on speaking terms with me, after that strip bar incident in Cape Town.

But I can get away from all of that, for me and the England boys are travelling to the West Indies, to face Chanderpaul and his army.

Our fixtures are as follows :-

20th November- Warm Up 20/20
25th November- 1st ODI
28th November- 2nd ODI
4th December- 3rd ODI
15th December- 1st Test
26th December- 2nd Test
5th January- 3rd Test

My sqaud..

P Mustard (WK)
A Cook
M Vaughan
I Bell
P Collingwood (C)
K Pieterson
A Flintoff
R Bopara
S Broad
M Panesar

J Anderson
M Prior (WK)
G Swann
M Carberry
S Harmison
R Sidebottom
C Tremlett
J Benning
V Solanki
D Mascarenhas

I was very suprised at the arrival of Carberry into our squad. He looked very nervous when he met us all, but Peter Moores has discussed with me that he is going to be in the 11 for the 20/20 match, much to my dis approval.
An old timer was back - Vikram Solanki. Having joined the Rebel League, he is not the most popular man in the squad, but I hope he performs well.
The Warwickshire lad, James Benning, has also got his way into the team. It has certainly raised some eyebrows, me being one of them!

We made it. A long flight on which I sat and thought abut how I would go about setting my field.
Jimmy Anderson has a safe pair of hands
...
Pietersen drops everything coming at him
...
Panesar is useless
...
You are the star fielder
...

All these thoughts running through my head while my neighbour, Kev Pietersen, was chatting up the Air Hostess.

19th November

A final net session before the 20/20 game. Many of the guys think its just a bit of fun, but I played till the sun went down, with my new best friend, the bowling machine.

Off I went for a kip, but stupidly chose a room with Freddie, Steve Harmison and Swanny, the party kids. Boozing till 3am, a serious hangover is not the way to begin our tour, a tour which will make or break me.

lol, nice and interesting start to the story. Make sure that all your players sleeps soon before the day of match ;) Otherwise, they will sleep on the field. Good luck with the story. :thumbs

Update coming.

20th November

Woken at 7am by Pete Moores. I looked round and saw Swanny in his Calvin Klein Y-fronts, Kev was in a deep sleep but apparently Harmy was downstairs, pigging out in the buffet.

Once everyone was up and refreshed, we travelled down to Barbados for the 20/20 match. There was a buzz in the coach, a buzz of excitement, a buzz of anticipation, buzzing for that victory.

My excitement was cut short by a serious headache thanks to the previous night, and I could only guess my room mates felt the same.

I discussed with Pete the lineup for the match. I was gobsmacked when he suggested the 3 new boys take the top end of the batting. I was too tired to care, and let Moores sort out the bowling and batting order.

I suggested leaving Swanny out, bringing in Monty instead. He agreed, but he wanted Matty Prior in the team. We all know his love for Mr. Prior, so I didnt bother arguing, but felt for Phil Mustard.

It was a scorching day, 42 Celcius, but my mind was set. Suprisingly, it was a damp pitch, with a bit of moisture in the air. Here is the revised team :

Just as I was preparing for the toss with Ganga, I was approched by Kevin Pietersen.
He said he was too ill to play, and could he be left out?
I shook my head, told him it was his own fault, and walked up to the sqaure to meet Ian Botham for the toss.

You are letting a sick player play, interesting. Looking foward to see how England go, in particular Pietersen knowing that he isn't feeling well.

So out I journeyed to the middle, a minute late. Ganga glared, but Botham gleamed.Ganga and I firmly shook hands, looked into each others eyes, and nodded.

Up the coin went.

"Tails" Ganga called, heads it was. A positive start to the match.
Dammit. Why didnt I discuss with Pete what to do?! It was a wet pitch, but its a 20/20 match, pitches wont change much throughout the match!
Bat.. Bowl.. Bat.. Bowl?

- Congratulations on winning the toss Paul, whats the decision?

I looked up to my dressing room, and saw Kev signalling to bat first. Ill or not, hes coming out to field.

I think we'll have a bowl today Ian, the pitch is wet, theres moisture in the air, hopefully we can upset the batsmen early. -

- You have an interesting selection today, do you think the 3 new boys can perform?

Ive got full confidence in Michael, Vikram and James. I feel they have what it takes to become regulars. -

Inside, I felt anguish. If one of them fail today, I will look like a plonker. Yet, I wanted them to fail, for I believe none of them should be here.

I said my good byes to Ian, and went back to the dressing room, to face the wrath of Kev.

ganga as west indies captain i am surprise.
since Ganga can't even make it proper in W.I sqaud.
