RACING The new F1 game from Codies

Apparently it was confirmed on Twitter.

Just seen that. They've already confirmed that Qualifying was too hard to simulate so they faked it. They haven't said that the Races are faked but from some of the posts and pictures I've seen it would appear that they are being faked as well.

I've had the game since yesterday, and i have played it quite a lot.

To be honest, it's not a bad game, in fact, it's a very good game. I am half way through my first season, and it is hard not to spin exiting the corners, but i haven't had a single puncture, and haven't experienced any problems with the pit-stops yet.

Graphically the game is amazing, my dad came into the room when i was playing it yesterday and mistaked it for real F1 until he saw me with the controller in my hand. (I was Vettel racing around Monza at the time). The weather system is simply magnificent, and it is crucial that you change your tires at the right time otherwise your race is screwed.

Overall, this game is great. The only problems i have is the split distances, you don't know how far the car in front of you is, but apart from that, all the bugs that people have reported on the Codies forum are simply non-existent for me.

Not tried the online yet, but will surely give it a go soon and see how i get on.

That is because, if the allegations are true, the other people on circuit aren't actually racing and hence there is no split times. And why you cannot view the AI on replay cameras.

they constantly put out lame ass games, but hype them up/lie enough to make loads of money and continue doing it...

If they sold a perfect game though, would anyone ever by the sequel to it?

I think it's harsh to add F1 to that pile.

I must admit that AC09 was terrible, but their racing games haven't been that bad if you give them a go.

Dirt2 and F1 2009 were both decent games, and F1 2010 is alright, but they need to get the basics right before they start on the fancy stuff.

I'd rather have a decent AI and split times with no pit bug than have the press conferences, get the racing part right before focusing on the extra bits.

You think F1CE was a decent game? Please it was barely a next gen game, horrible online and stripped down features. There was noting in that game that made it worth buying. Absolutely nothing

I guess that explains why you rate this so highly.

Also how can the AI even be close to "decent" when they aren't even ****ign racing. Its not a race,

I never said F1CE, i said F1 2009 for the wii and psp. I played it on the wii, and although the graphics weren't anything to shout about, it fulfilled the need for an F1 game for many people, me included.

I feel the same about this game, it can be great if you want it to be, but it can also be very bad if you want to go through it and be picky.

I never brought F1CE for my Ps3, i only got the console last christmas and didn't want to waste my money on an old F1 game when i had one on the wii if i wanted to play F1. However i did download the demo off PSN and it wasn't very good, the handling was one thing that i remember being the very bad.

O.......K.......

[All] Confirmed Race AI is Phoney - Codemasters Forums

What the hell?! Definitely steering clear of this game! :(

That sounds like one heck of a gamebreaker, Codies - doing anything about this? As someone said, F1GP on the Amiga 500 had no trouble in simulating 24 cars in real time.

Dear oh dear, sounds like this one needs lots of patches - I might check in on it again when it's come down to ?15 or even ?10 - assuming any fixes have been rolled out, that is.

And all this after they apparently had an F1 test driver on the development team?? :facepalm

MasterBlaster76 added 2 Minutes and 27 Seconds later...

Oh pull the other one, Codies! How did Geoff Crammond simulate 24 cars in real time back on the sodding Amiga 500?? Not good enough, ladies. Not by a long shot! Fancy faking qualifying - it's so exciting these days!

I reckon this one might be heading for a 60% or lower from PC Gamer - still going to wait for the mag though! :D

Edit: Just spent some time over at the Codies forum and you wouldn't believe how many people don't even see this as an issue! 'All F1 games have times faked in quali, live with it', by someone called Fisichella Kid - to which I replied F1GP, GP2, GP3 and GP4. End of discussion.
