Haha, I have been going through the Dossier released by the ECB.
http://static.espncricinfo.com/db/DOWNLOAD/100/0135/KP.pdf The more I read, the more I am on KP's side.
First of all what kind of a Kindergarten level exercise is it? who the hell keeps something as silly as a dossier of this sort. Its almost as bad as homework-gate.
As for the contents of the dossier themselves -
1) A lot of talk about playing a "senseless" shot to get out. - Wht abt at all of the runs scored before that, eh? Whereby he was highest scorer for the side.
2) Do not take players out drinking so as "not to give the scandal-voracious press any ammunition - WTF ! How paranoid was this team! Managing the press is not your job, they will write what they want. Instead focus on letting the team be relaxed and help them settle in. If the press scared them so much no wonder, they buckled under the real pressures on the field. The team management sounds like a bunch of schizophrenics, who were living a paranoid life, and its no wonder people with some sanity left didn't see eye to eye with them.
3) Some bullsh!t about how KP said he would go home if Eng went 3-0 down - The support staff is there to help players and not spy and then rat on them. Players vent out frustration from time to time, especially when the chips are down. Thats the whole point of having support staff who are supportive. Let players vent out frustration and get it off their chest.
What is the point of having support staff, if things said to them in strict confidence is going to be then used against you. That reeks of very very unhealthy team ethos. If players cannot freely talk to the support staff anymore, how will the support staff even help them. KP said he was feeling disappointed with the team. Once this info got out, did anyone bother to sit down and explain things to him, or say don't worry we are working on it - No. Pointless to have support staff then, if even after the issues raised by a player leak, they are not directly addressed and instead fed into a childish dossier to be used against the player.
Above all did KP desert the team, regardless of what he told someone - No. Did Jonathan Trott - Yes. KP still the villain? Okay !
4) After more childish ranting the one that is really alarming.
"It riled the team and management that KP allowed Piers Morgan to belittle AC and the team on Social media." Goes on to say they asked KP to get Morgan to stop and KP told them to get some sense.
First of the preposterous idea that KP was "allowing" Morgan to tweet, is beyond childish. KP and Morgan maybe friends, but that in some way makes KP responsible for what Morgan is saying? Or for that matter gives KP control over Morgan, just because they are friends, and KP can direct Morgan what to write/ Eng players sound not only paranoid, but positively losing all sense of what is rational.
What is even worse is the lack of spine on display from the team. Yeah we are getting the sh!t hammered out of us, but that friend of yours is criticising us for that, get him to stop. We are too gutless, and a bunch of cowards, to take (extremely justified) criticism on the chin, and instead we want you to use your influence to get people to stop, or we will gang up and hold it against you.
If this attrocious level of the total lack of any kind of guts, doesn't make every English fan to want to throw up, then I don't know what will.
Its good on the ECB's part to release this "Dossier'. However the sad truth is far from showing KP in poor light, its a stinking expose on the shambolic team Flower and Co. were running. The management had devolved into a bunch of paranoid, schizophrenics, who were more interested in managing the media then on field affairs. You could not talk freely to the support staff anymore, who were now the control freak manager's rats and spies.
Above all the team has so totally lost all character, in all of this mess, that far from taking very justified criticism on the chin they were out to get one of their own, because he could not get some of the criticism to stop !
I think all Eng fans will thank the ECB for this dossier, only for reasons far different from what the ECB would have liked.
