awesome story Highlander, just wondering if you have Baker's first class averages somewhere in the thread?

I think if you updated the first page with the current averages for Tom that it would be a good feature to see. Maybe also do like a chart to see what progress he has made over the season aswell?

Wednesday 3rd April

That morning I felt very low. Not only had we suffered a massive defeat but Rob had also had to resign. It was very unfair. I felt really ill as well, having downed a bottle of vodka by myself to forget my troubles. It felt like someone was hitting me with a sledge-hammer.

Eventually I managed to wake myself up and drink a strong cup of coffee and then ate a bagel to slowly recover. I slumped down in front of my TV and turned it on, to see that Sky Sports were doing the highlight of yesterday's cricket action. There had only been two games.

Yesterday there were two games in Division 2 of the Pro45 League. Kent v Leicstershire and Yorkshire v Somerset.

At Canterbury, a very low scoring game ensured that it would be a tight match. Kent batting first were only able to make 113 All Out after Gibson destroyed their top order. With such a small total to defend Kent would always be in trouble and although Kent did bowl well Leicstershire were easily able to make the runs of 31 overs. Once again the rookie Tom Baker bowled very well, picking up 2 wickets and only going for 19 runs of his 9 overs.

Yorkshire made a very strong start to the season, however they were not able to maintain it at home to Somerset. With Somerset being asked to bat first, they were able to amass a very competitive score of 252, in conditions which looked to favour the bowlers. With such a daunting task ahead of them, the Yorkshire top order collapsed and it was only the middle order which saved them from being soundly thrashed.

Now let's take a look a the table in Divison 2.

Cricket20052008-01-1015-25-05-34.jpg

At the moment Somerset are leading the table with a 100% win record. The Foxes also have won their 2 games but slip to second on net run-rate. Third to Sixth all have 4 points with Kent leading the pack on run-rate. The Bears bring up the rear of the table but still have a game in hand while Durham have lost their two opening games and will be looking to change their fortunes. Scotland still have yet to play a game.

Well that's finishes today's summary. Join us next time for more Domestic action.

So even though we had lost yesterday we were still third, which was quite pleasing. It was still very early in the season and too early to tell how things would pan out. I decided that as it was nearly half past ten I would head of to training.

At the ground. I was met by Graham, the coach,

"Hi there Tom. I'm sending everyone into the video room. I have a special announcement to make."

As I headed into the vid room to see what all the fuss was about I noticed that nearly everyone else was in there. Predictably Cooky was last in and of course he was hung over :noway

"Tom. Make sure I never drink again, ok. I'm becoming a Morman. I hate this feeling. i have seen the light"

"I wish I could help you Cooky, but you do appear to have a nack for knocking back the booze."

At that moment the coach stood up on the platform.

"Thanks everyone for your patience. I have a very exciting announcement to make to you. If you would please look."

He pressed a button and the screen began to descend.

"Oh My God."

"No Way"

"This is going to be great"

Find out what it is in the next update ;)

Great story man!

Fantastic cliffhanger there, this is a great story! Your still 3rd in the league despite the loss in the 2nd game so your doing ok, and you bowled pretty well in the game anyway.

Great graphics Tom!

A very tense cliffhanger. Very neat and presented presentation.

YOU WILL BE PLAYING THE WEST INDIES

This is incredible. We would be playing a 20/20 match against legends like Lara, Chanderpaul and Gayle. I had completely forgot they were coming on a tour over here and a 20/20 friendly had been arranged between us. The match was scheduled for tomorrow so we did not have much time to prepare. With the announcement made the level of noise in the room rose very quickly to shouting level. Everyone was so excited. It took a long time for Graham to make his voice heard:

"Right I knew everyone would like the sound of this. I'll be putting the team up tomorrow, so everyone work hard in the nets. Now to discuss the match yesterday. It was a very poor batting performance once again. I want all the batsmen and Andy batting. I want all the bowlers plus Tom to bowl at them and make their life as difficult as possible as if it was a real match situation. Ok everyone head out now."

I was pleased to be bowling today as I often batted in the nets and it would be good to get some bowling practice in. After half an hour's hard work I had got Andy out 3 times, once bowled and twice edged. I was pleased by my performance and I saw the coach had noticed. Eventually the coach called us all in and gave us another talking to.

"Right guys. Good work there. Another part of our game that let us down was our fielding, especially our catching. I'll be hitting you catches and if anyone drops one it's 25 press ups."

The coach took one of the spare bats and a bag of balls and we all lined up. He started hitting balls high in the air. I was only third in the line behind David and Simon Cusden a guy from the 2XI. They both took their catches easily.

"TOM Your turn!!!!"

The coach smacked the ball high in the air right into the sun.

It went high into the air............

I could barely see it and completely missed the ball.

Everyone burst out laughing as it landed 5 feet to my left. I got down and started doing my press-ups my cheeks burning with embaressment. I was not happy :noway

Eventually we broke of and headed back to the changing rooms. It had only been a gentle training session due to our match yesterday and so we were pretty energetic. A few of the lads were hitting the bars but I wasn't. I had a date tonight.

:love

I had not told anyone about it just in case it went wrong. I had booked us a meal at a really fancy restaurant and also tickets to go and see a theatre production. It was a comedy/musical which had pretty good ratings so I was looking forward to it. Hopefully it would have a good effect on her ;)

Wish me luck :)
