Heard on the radio this morning that the demand for Tickets for the upcoming Ashes Series are higher than that of the Rolling Stones. The Ticket Agency Web Sites are jammed that it has taken some people up to 2 hours to get a ticket. It's a wonder their servers haven't crashed.

I think there's a few scumbags out there too cuz I also heard in the same announcement that apparently they're already on E-Bay

Yeah, I hate people who sell them on ebay for an outrageous price. I wan't to get a ticket, so hopefully I can see the Sydney Test.

Yeah, we couldn't get any! My dad was trying from work most of the day, but to no avail, as it was engaged...
Anyway, will try tomorrow/tonight :)
It's a massive event, and as mentioned, it's annoying that people feel the need to traffic them on the internet for stupid prices.
By the way, why is this in the Fixtures Forum?

Unlucky about the tickets.

Good question. I think it is in the fixtures forum, because we are talking about the tickets to the Ashes. Hence, the Ashes being a fixture.

It's not in the fixtures forum any more, because it doesn't belong there at all.

All 4 days are sold out so far in the Sydney test for the ACF. Also only about 1,500 tickets are available to the general public for each day after the 2 week period. Adelaide is sold out first three days are sold out, perth day 1 is sold out, brisbane day 1 is close to being sold out while Melbourne penty of seats remaining. Also interesting to know that the VB series game and 2020 match at Sydney are all close to being sold out. Hopefully they will still have tickets to the VB series game between NZ and Aus.

Ohh. Doesn't look like I will be going to the Ashes this time. Oh well, my friend and I are going to the 20/20 for his birthday! ;)

What an absolue farce. Cricket Australia have really stuffed up big time. Lots of people missing out on tickets with some tickets already going for $9000 on ebay.

The CA chief James Sutherland said that CA have all the power to cancel all those tickets that are being sold on ebay. I think most people got the tickets but it was just the time which was really frustrating. Took hours to purchase tickets. Anyways many would of expected the SCG to be sold out on every day but i am extremely surprised by how quick it has been.

Seems that first 3 days are sold out at WACA as well.

Yep an absolute farce. I had hoped aussies would buy and hold onto ALL of the tickets. But looking at the prices they're fetching maybe I shoulda made a quick buck too. Looks like we'll be overrun by poms. Predictable. I have a pom mate who had about 25 mates back in england all register in the "family" using is home address - CA's checks don't even pick up anomalies like this. Then the aussies who did buy them flog them off anyway (good prices mind you).

i signed up for that CA Family thingy.

man i really want to go to the 3rd Test at the WACA...........hurling abuse at Pietersen hehehe

Aww, this is rubbish. The first 4 days of the Sydney Test are gone, and all within 2 hours, apparently!
CA, as mentioned, have seriously stuffed this; the whole idea is ludicrous. I mean, they don't care who gets in, as long as they're not English. In my opinion, it'd make the spectacle alot larger if the Barmy manage to get in in masses... Every city, barring Sydney and Adelaide, are pretty much fine- why is that exactly? Shouldn't Melbourne be sold out by now?- I'm a little vague on that topic...
On the 19th of this month, general public tickets go on sale so there's still a chance for those who were left behind (;)), albeit minute really.
I'll have to settle for an ODI match...:(

I'm a bit unclear what you mean here. CA have allowed for 10% of tickets to go to the public (read: England) and there's no doubt a fair few from the presale will have leaked over as well. Even at a conservative estimate (and without taking into account venue capacities), that's still more than twice as many English able to get tickets as Australians to last year's Ashes. There will be plenty, but remember, it's our country, we should be supplying our own atmosphere.

It's all about supply and demand. The MCG seats 100,000 and the SCG seats 44,000, but about 2 million more people live in NSW.
Likewise, the Gabba is about the same size as the SCG, but there are much fewer people in Queensland. Furthermore, tickets to Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne were all managed by Ticketmaster; Adelaide and Sydney were managed by separate companies, thus, the system was likely moving tickets slower.
Thirdly, customers were allowed to buy 10 tickets each to Sydney, more than any other match. In this, I think someone really did f**k up; customers were allowed to buy 2 more tickets to the SCG than to the MCG and yet there were less than half as many tickets.

I heard, come the 19th of June, 1,500 seats will be available for the Sydney Test per day to general customers; they'll probably be gone in a few seconds, too. I don't even know what I was talking about in that last post, but the system adopted by CA just seems a little, err, dysfunctional...

Yeah, but it's still surprising considering the cultural diversity of Sydney; a fair few people barely know what cricket is over here, and I'm sure that'd be the same in Melbourne, hence it's strange that they went so quickly. But, as you said, it was possible to purchase ten tickets each, and plenty of people would've cashed in on that, or close to that number anyway. I would've assumed that Meloburne would sell rapidly, considering the significance of the Boxing Day Test, but once again, there are factors there, such as a massive crowd capacity, a lesser population and a limit to the amount of tickets available to one person.
