Is it me or does Sehwag just get out to the same ball all the time?

A ball pitched on a length, swinging just a little bit out, outside edge, taken my slips / keeper.

I swear, I can count SO many instances of this, but it just doesn't seem like something he's rectified since... well forever.

Take a look at some of these:

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 4th Test Australia vs India Day 1

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 1st Test SA vs Ind (Ok he scored 319, but it still goes along with my point)

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 4th Test Australia vs India Day 5 - Look at the length

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 2nd Test India vs SA - instead of going out, it comes in, but again, its THAT length.

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 2nd Test SA vs Ind - the length.

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 3rd Test Australia vs India Day 1 - lengthh.

YouTube - India Vs New Zealand Sehwag's wicket for live cricket visit http://cricket.sevenmountz.com - length (watch at 0:24)

YouTube - Sehwag Wicket 3rd Test Australia vs India Perth 2008 Day 3 - That Length again!

And its stayed with him since 2004? YouTube - Shabbir ahmed takes Sehwags wicket

YouTube - Mohammad Asif - Virender Sehwag Bowled - 2006

YouTube - 1st wick Sehwag OUT Vs SA - Watch at 0:24

YouTube - SHOAIB AKHTAR to Sehwag - 2004

YouTube - One hell of a ball - Ok this was a miraculous delivery, but again, the length - Sehwags nowhere near it.

Obviously I can't find youtube videos for all of the dismissals, but I could find the Cricinfo commentary.

Anyway, the question is, has Sehwag's great hand-eye coordation hidden this major technical flaw in his batting?

ever since he played his first ball in international cricket, its been pretty evident
that he has superb hand-eye co-ordination which makes up for his lack of footwork and technique.

but who cares as long as hes scoring runs ! hes an entertainer who can take the attack to the opposition
and dismantle them !!

also, hes been playing like this since his childhood and i doubt he'll make any changes so late in his career....in fact, he shouldnt !

Technique schemnique, the guy can bat, who cares if he follows the book. Look at Chanders, KP or P Hughes. If everyone had the same technique then it would be really boring.

well, ball pitching on length and swinging is kinda the ideal delivery.

if he was getting out to half volleys and full toss's he'd have an average of 30-40.

if anything it's mental flaw, some of those he shouldn't have been trying to cut or even playing (except the ones where he was bowled.)

his footwork is crap, but I don't think he cares much given he can score run a ball triple tons with it.

Well the point is, I don't think bowlers exploit that technical flaw in his batting enough to get him out.

He gets out in such a similar fashion so many times, but for some reason he is still able to make 100s at such ridiculous rates with such consistency.

which in the end just proves his batting skills and hand-eye co-ordination !

also, i can show you umpteen videos of tendulkar getting caught behind or in the slips.....so, does that mean he is technically flawed ?

10 of his 15 centuries came in the subcontinent and 15 of his 18 half centuries came in the the subcontinent. He takes advantage of the conditions there, he does do well in Australia, average in England, poor in New Zealand and South Africa.

Where the ball moves he struggles a bit more. And cricket has almost run out of bowlers that can take advantage of his batting flaws.

It's the length kartik; its almost same exact ball each and every time.

If you bowl full, the balls gonna disappear from Sehwag EACH and EVERY TIME. IF you bowl short 9/10 Sehwag will dispatch it.

Bowl it on that exact length, and Sehwag will struggle, big time.

true. and he also struggles if you bowl in the rib rage area (well who doesnt) !
but since they arent exploiting it...he'll be relishing his batting ! ;)

Mashrafe got him out bowled with the same kinda delivery twice. thats both the time he faced Shewag.

YouTube - Mashrafe vs Sehwag - (dont have the other video, but i swear its 90% carbon copy, with out the inside edge)

Well the point is, I don't think bowlers exploit that technical flaw in his batting enough to get him out.

yah right, thats why, every team has an computer analyst to work with this kinda things. they do exploit it. thats why you can remember "SO many instances of this". then again he scored so many runs. so these dont mean anything. any batsman would love to be in his recent form and avg.

Well in many of his 100s that I've watched, I have always seen the bowlers bowl too full or too short, and not enough in that length that he struggles in; thats what I mean when I say bowlers don't exploit the area enough.

but then, are you suggesting that he got his triple hundreds because of bad bowling ??
