"The obsession of finding the all-rounders in Indian Cricket these days!!!"

Edit:-
We tried including Gurkeerat Mann in the Indian team after a good season in 2015/16 and took him to Australia. What a disaster that was!

Not These Days it's been existing since Kapil Dev Retired.

Remember Vijay Shankar? The 3D Guy :D why he was preferred in the 2019 WC squad.

There are many such instances in the past.

I don't know how people see it but for me Vijay Shankar was a capable middle order player who could build his innings amidst a collapse in difficult batting conditions and he showed that more than a couple times at the very start of his career. He was an equally good 6th bowling option. I don't understand people making fun of him. It wasn't his fault if he didn't get the role where he could do well.

Maybe he was.

But selection ahead of Rayudu just before the World Cup just he could bowl a bit was farce.

And Rayudu is a better batsmen than Shankar and has a proven international record.

And Yeah the point was The Obsession with all-rounders which you quoted is nowadays but thing is its been forever since Kapil Dev.

Bumrah understandably is rested but does Shami really need a rest, I mean this big? aI feel give him a go and see if he can be the 2nd seamer in ODIs and T20Is, he's been unlucky in the white ball circuit off late.

He has a very good ODI record.

Back when he started he was in contention alongside Mich Starc to take the fastest 100 ODI wickets in 2015.

Sadly knee injury kept him out from the limited overs settup.

His economy maybe on the Higher side but he has this knack of keep getting wickets and I'll have him on my ODI side every side.

Picking Shami as 5/60 odd is way better than Bhuvi with 1 or 2 for 35 odd.

What Bhuvi is taking 1 or 2 for 35 odd? Or are you telling me Bhuvi is taking 1 or 2 for 35 odd in 2 overs?

To simply my point :

Bhuvneshwar has an average of 34 odd in ODI cricket and a strike rate of 41.9.

Shami on the other hand has an average of 25.62 and a Strike Rate of 27.3.

Shami is a kind of bowler which I would always like to have in an ODI side which can give me 2-3 wickets on any given match.

I wanted to write arre bhai khena kya chahte ho in the initial reply but thought lets simply the post.
All I meant in my joke which was so bad is that what version of Bhuvi is taking 1 or 2 wickets for 35 runs? I have not seen that Bhuvi in a while.

On the series, I feel so good and relaxed seeing Sharma is back as captain. I also feel so nervous and my anxiety hits the roof when I think that if its not Sharma, its going to be KL Rahul. We are so doomed.

My XI for the ODI is

Sharma
Ruturaj
Kohli
Iyer
Pant
Sky
Sundar
Chahar/Thakur
Chahal
Siraj
Avesh Khan

Iyer, Sky and Sharma to help bowl if needed. Rohi Sharma has bowled 60 overs in ODI's. He is more then capable.

So... they decide to reduce the competition to the main set of openers by splitting Ruturaj and Ishan between the two formats (ODI and T20). Ruturaj is selected for ODI while Ishan is selected for T20. Not a bad idea, unless the guys have been informed of the reason why this is being done.

Hooda is a weird choice! From what I see, he doesn't seem to have a great VHT in recent times. Wait wait..... the connection seems to be getting stronger

KL Rahul (vice captain) -> Deepak Hooda (AR) -> Punjab Kings -> Anil Kumble

If this is true, its nice how Ganguly and Dravid get their inputs from Kumble, but they also gotta see how Punjab Kings fared under Kumble, and not take everything out of his basket.
