West Indies' tour of India (Feb 2022)

Well, the more I see India bat in ODI's the more I feel this format is useless :p. I mean we have so many freaking openers doing so well and we go for Pant in opening. What is our build up to 2023? Does anyone even know what their role is just like 2019. I definitely like the idea of KL and SKY in the middle overs. I think I would prefer KL and one of SKY/Iyer to take up 4 and 5. Also Virat just needs to take a break from cricket and this is all format. He is not contributing anything to the team and might as well sit out and get fresh and think what is wrong.

I am not sure I am liking this tinkering and all. I am sure Dravid and co have a plan but as an outsider right now, it looks surprising, confusing and limited overs in shambles feeling. Are we telling Dhawan its times up?

India XI so far

1. Rohit Sharma
2. Dhawan/Shaw/Agarwal/KL Rahul/Gaikwad/Kishan ----- WTF??
3. Virat Kohli
4. Iyer/KL
5. Suryakumar Yadav
6. Pant/Washington Sundar/Deepak Hooda/Venky/Hardik ----- WTF????????
7. Pant/Washington Sundar/Deepak Hooda/Venky/Hardik ----- WTF????????
8. Thakur/Chaha/Siraj/Bhuvi
9. Chahal/Kuldeep/Ashwin/... any other spinner?
10. Bumrah
11. Shami/Siraj/1.4 billion other people???????

Like I know we have a great bench strength but it does not have to be this bad of a problem.

I would love to see the below XI get consistent chances

1. Rohit Sharma
2. Ruturaj Gaikwad
3. Virat Kohli
4. KL Rahul/Iyer - Depending on fitness
5. Suryakumar Yadav
6. Rishabh Pant
7. Sundar/Hardik/Hooda - Depending on the pitch and fitness
8. Thakur
9. Siraj/Shami - Depending on pitches
10. Bumrah
11. Chahal

Completely forgot that Sundar's place will directly go to Jaddu once he is back and fit.
Sundar and Jadeja could play together.

It is a crime that Deepak Chahar is not our first choice of bowler for the new ball and to bat at 8.
I might well move Shardul to no.7. He is doing better than Hardik as far as his bowling is concerned and with the bat he is just as good. I am looking forward to an interesting line up here-

Rohit Sharma :c: :bat:
Shikhar Dhawan :bat:
Virat Kohli :bat:
Rishabh Pant :wkb:
KL Rahul :bat:
Ravindra Jadeja :ar:
Shardul Thakur :ar:
Deepak Chahar :bwl:
Kuldeep Yadav :bwl:
Yuzvendra Chahal :bwl:
Jasprit Bumrah :bwl:

This line-up gives us a chance to play our best batters in the 50-overs format not necessarily compromising on our bowling. This line-up bats deep down to 8 and all these 11 players can hold their bats.

And hence this would answer the following questions:-

Q. Do we need Jadeja?
Ans. No problem he will play.

Q. Do we need Kul-Cha?
Ans. No problem, they are going to play with Jadeja

Q. Do we need a third seamer who bats well down the order?
Ans. There's Lord Thakur!

Q. Do we need to play KLR in the middle order? Then what about Pant?
Ans. Both will play in the middle order

Q. What about our openers?
Ans. We go back to Rohit-Dhawan

Q. What about Bhuvi?
Ans. He needs to prove his fitness in IPL & T20Is along with domestic games.

Q. What about SKY/Iyer?
Ans. Unfortunately KLR & Pant are more important to the side and hence SKY/Iyer needs to be on the bench.

Did not understand the move to send Akeal Hosein ahead of both Fabian Allen & Odean Smith who are renowned big hitters. And it's not like they can't bat in diffficult circumstances. We have seen them do that on multiple occasions.

I think Lord is a fad as a cricketer. In the crunch moment he will be pants down and he is not a patch on Hardik. The comparison is almost offensive. And I cannot fathom a team without SKY specially one with as many middle order calamities as India in the last half a decade.

Got a feeling India might floor this. They are in the driver's seat though at the moment.

That ondrive six from Odean was something. A treat to watch.

Dravid loves to experiment.

Remember him as an expert for Star sports during the 2015 WC saying Rohit should bat at 4 while batting 2nd and as an opener when batting 1st.

I want the same to happen , the fearsome tweak with ICC World cups.

Experiment is what I am looking for . :p :D
