Whitewash series -
I don't know if I am the only one noticing but isn't there too many white wash series now then there were before? I mean Australia goes to England they get thrashed 5-0 in the Ashes and now England goes to Australia they are getting thrashed.
Also India to be counted in the similar situation. And some other teams. It never use to be like this before, yes there were few white washes in a year but not as much as there are now.

I wish we had won the Ashes 5-0. It was only 3-0.

In fact, the Aussies nearly won at Trent Bridge, would have won at Old Trafford but for the rain and were in a great position to go on and win at Durham. So maybe they should have beaten us 3-1. :spy

Agreed, the 3-0 in the summer was very flattering to England.

Kudos to Pakistan, don't play at home, still manages to avoid whitewashes :p

it's been the home/away win ratios that have been mad this year.

40 tests and only 3 away wins, two of them against zimbabwe. almost everyone's home has become a fortress.

@War

You have a sickness, Stinky. You are just a fountain of pure awesomeness. I don't think you've ever posted something I haven't completely agreed with.

Ye been a interesting year for home teams dominance. However S Africa didn't play many away tests, since that one other away victory, was by the proteas, in that 2 tests series vs PAK.

If a proper 3 tests series was arranged, they would have won that.

And yet somehow the ECB didn't notice.

I honestly wonder what they're smoking sometimes.

I believe the ECB noticed, i just reckon they just backed certain seniors to come good, with the hope that AUS problems would continue.

I'm pretty sure I saw a Gatting interview where he said he couldn't envisage any way for England to lose the series because Australia didn't have the players.

"Who are they going to beat us with?" is a rough quote, I think.

Yea well former ENG players were talking up ENG chances, Botham for eg was pretty vocal. But of course none of them were exactly part of the ECB and the selection panel.

Well I thought Botham was trolling and Gatting was serious.

And I thought Gatt was on the board at the ECB? He's deffo an ECB official of some sort, thought I guess a lot of former Captains have got non-selection positions, maybe he's one of those.

One thing that's for sure is they must have got some of the behind the scenes stuff wrong. Perhaps nothing as bad as sending Steve Harmison out to win the Ashes with 80mph long hops, though.

Gatting is the ECB's 'managing director of cricket partnerships'. Whatever that is. Also the current MCC president.

Yeah I have no clue what that means. I guess it's some kind of corporate pie eating position.

I think that they had an opportunity with these 2 series to simply count it as a 10 test series, sure would have been interesting at this stage with it being 3-3 with 2 tests to go :)
