Cricinfo's having an all time World Cup XI mail in. Was interested to see everyone's team. Mine's below:
Matthew Hayden, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), AB de Villiers, Imran Khan(), Lance Klusener, Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Glenn McGrath
Imran Khan to lead, of course, as he gets the team to play like “cornered tigers”. Class at the top of the order. Good left/right combos in the top four as well. Sanga to keep wickets. Fire power in De Villiers and Klusener, and a bit with Akram. Both Warne and Murli on the team with Imran and McGrath to lead the attack with the new ball. Akram’s reverse with the older ball (à la those two deliveries). An attack that can handle any surface in the world. Only thing missing from this 11 might be a bit of pace (although arguably Akram and Imran have that covered in their prime). Thought about Brett Lee (great World Cup strike rate as well), but opted for Klusener instead as a potential sixth bowler. His batting was the decider (hopefully no games come down to the last run with him on strike).
