WORLD CRICKET CONFERENCE

World Cricket Conference; often and simply known by its acronymic name (WCC) is the world governing body for the sport of cricket.

The WCC is responsible for the organization of cricket's major international tournaments, most notably the Cricket World Cup and the Nations League.

It also appoints the umpires and referees that officiate at all sanctioned international matches. It also promulgates the WCC Code of Conduct.
World Cricket Conference also co-ordinates action against corruption and match-fixing through its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).

The WCC is not involved in the arrangement of bilateral fixtures between member nations, which include all Test, ODI and T20I matches.

Neither does it govern domestic cricket within member countries. It does however, sanction all international games giving them official status.
It does not make or alter the laws of the sport, which have remained under the governance of the Marylebone Cricket Club since 1788.

Müller Schwanstegger assumes World Cricket Conference presidency
Many within the World Cricket Conference believe Müller Schwanstegger to be a corrupt, money-grubbing, slimy politician gravely addicted to power

Indian administrator and juror Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy had been elected the first-ever president of the World Cricket Conference for a one-year term in June of 1999. With his term reaching completion, German beaurucrat and Executive Board Müller Schwanstegger will assume presidency.

Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy was the key figurehead in WCC's discussions with the International Olympic Committee regarding cricket's inclusion into the Olympics.

Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy's entire presidency dutifully served WCC following their formation and expanded the game beyond its traditional 'Test-playing' nations. He played a pivotal role in cricket's expansion during his term, which saw a massive influx of nations into the World Cricket Conference. Currently, there are 27 full-member nations part of the conference – a far cry from the 12 full-member nations that were originally part of WCC when the organization formed.

Apart from admitting new nations and expanding the horizons of the World Cricket Conference, Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy has been instrumental in globalizing the sport in markets that were not really renowned for cricket, with the sport finding a stronghold in Europe, which is now the residence of 11 new full-member nations. The game has expanded in all regions and continents under his leadership, but none more so than in Europe... [READ MORE]

World Cricket Conference establishes its home in Berlin
Built in the heart of Berlin, this new facility will serve as the headquarters of the World Cricket Conference

World Cricket Conference open their headquarters in Berlin, subsequently closing their makeshift offices at Lord's. After being lobbied by German bureaucrat and Executive Board Member, Müller Schwanstegger, the move to Berlin was made official following an 11–1 vote by the Executive Board. It is claimed that Central Europe has the largest viewership for the sport amongst the cricket-playing nations, so the WCC decided to establish its headquarters in the game's "centre of gravity".

"The decision to establish the headquarters of the World Cricket Conference was very strategic, one made with cricket's best interests in mind," said Executive Board Member, Sir Clinton Richards. "With cricket blooming worldwide, but more so in Central Europe, it was decided by the WCC's executive board after a landslide vote to establish the home of the World Cricket Conference in Berlin," he further added. The Conference is hopeful that this decision will further connect them to the game in Europe, as well as creating shorter pathways to Africa and Asia countries, the second and third biggest markets of cricket in the world (respectively).

While Berlin becomes the home of the World Cricket Conference, the home of cricket remains in London with MCC preserving the governance of the sport itself.
