Maybe it's just me, but having played through 3 seasons, and now half an England tour one thing has become increasingly annoying. As the wickets get worse, my bowlers inability to take a wicket increases.

In many of my seasons matches, the oppositions first innings has been one that has involved a quick skittling for something around the 200-250 mark. Then with a day and a half to bowl them out, I watch in horror as on a fourth day wicket not one of my bowlers can reproduce the form that gets them 5'fors on the first and second day wickets.

Simply put does anyone else find the computers second innings when needed is played riskless and chanceless, despite batting on a wicket that would make a medium pacer long hop specialist a danger?

One thing my team has always lacked is a world class spinner? Would that be an explanation as to why 4th day wickets are so hard to come by?

One more slight gripe I suppose is the slip fielders, again I'm sure it's just me but does anyone feel a 50% catching ratio for your 1st and 2nd slips is a tad low? (I say 50% because it seems that roughly half the catches are taken and half dropped)

Who are you playing as? this may have a bearing?

I have noticed this occasionally but its not like a bug or anything. It will just be poor bowling. Bowlers cant bowl perfect every match! imagine if they did! :D

I find that when the team bats badly in the first innings, they do better in the second, whatever the pitch.

I am playing as Middlesex, so in the first season not being able to bowl anyone out was more than acceptable. In fact taking a wicket was close to a miracle :D

I definately agree bowlers can't be perfect every match, and every innings, but when Brett "the beamer" Lee takes 8-52 in the first innings to leave the opposition needing to bat for a day and a half to save the match, he should surely be able to pick up more than one wicket in the second innings on an even more uneven pitch?

I think Freddiefans right in that whenever I dismiss a side in the first innings cheaply they always produce a much improved batting display in the second innings.

Just slightly bugs me that they can bat better when the pitch is in theory harder to bat on by a fourth day.

If it makes a difference I always prepare a seamers wicket, does this mean by the fourth day despite being uneven, the pitch is possibly very slow and as such easier to bat on?

Cheers for replys guys, and I certainly wouldn't call any of this a bug, just a slight gripe.. or maybe frustration at the game playing too realisticly :P

The slips catching is terrible. I play for Lancashire and now England and Flintoff is the worst catcher. He drops almost everything. The catching all round is **** poor though.

I have to say when the wicket gets worse on my game, teams batting last generally do struggle, especially against spinners when there is a turning wicket. Agree about the catches being dropped, especially from wicket keepers, there must be a fair few dropped in a season by keeprs. Wish there was some form of keeping track?

My keeper W Hegg was great. I can only remember him dropping 1 catch in i think 2 seasons. He has retired now and the keeper i have now does drop a few but is not to bad.

I thought it must have been the way I played, but I have noticed this with all versions of the game. If I have one complaint it would be this.

If I get into a good position in the 3rd innings, I find I have to ensure that I am AT LEAST 420-450 runs in front at the start of the last days play regardless of the pitch conditions.

Even with variable bounce and the ball spinning at right angles, my bowlers struggle to get teams out in the 4th innings.

with warne and the 4th innings i love the last day:)
