Sri Lanka vs Kenya @ New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

Sri Lanka demolished Kenya and knocked them out of the competition with a 9 wicket win. All the Sri Lankan bowlers bowled tight and then Jayasuriya ripped into the Kenyan bowling attack.

Kenya won the toss and batted first even with most of the chasing sides winning. Things started badly for Kenya as Vaas bowled Obuya off a no ball and then Sangakkara uncharacteristicly dropped Ouma (5) off Fernando. But Vaas got his man the very next over, this time bowling Obuya off a legitimate ball. Kenya were under strong pressure from Sri Lanka and looked to risky 1's and 2's. This almost resulted in Shah being run out going for a very tight two. On the alst ball before the end of the fielding restrictions, Kenya lost their 2nd wicket. Shah shuffled across his stumps and toed the ball onto leg stump, giving Fernando his 1st wicket. Malinga came into the attack and he got a wicket in only his 3rd ball. The wicket was of the opening batsman and wicket keeper Maurice Ouma. He made 7 before the pace of Malinga did for him and he was plum infront of middle. Kenyan's most experienced and skilled batsman came to the crease and made Malinga look like a medium pacer by slapping him through point first ball. Jayasuriya came into the attack and immediately tied the batsman up, bowling a maiden 1st over. The pressure got to much for Mishra and ran a stupid 3rd which resulted in a easy run out for Chaminda Vaas. Malinga then got a maiden before Obuya was bowled by Jayasuriya, who was troubling the inexperienced batsmen. Dilshan came into the attack and then Vaas came back for 1 over. With just his 1st ball back he dismissed the Kenyan rock that is Steve Tikolo for 25. Tikolo just missed a straight one and vaas hit the top of middle. There was no more resistance from Kenya, with constant loss of wickets and a very low run rate. Vaas finished off his 4 overs with a maiden and then very next over Dilshan got his 1st. Kamande played all around it and Dilshan hit off stump. At the other end Fernando finished his 4 overs also with a maiden. Maharoof came on to bowl the alst over and got the wicket of Onyango last ball. Only 2 runs came off it and it resulted in Kenya making a measly 63-8 from their 20 overs. Tikolo was the only batsman to get past 7, hitting 25. Vaas took 2 wickets and all the other bowls got 1 each.

Sri Lanka almost lost a wicket 3rd ball with Jayasuriya hitting the ball towards point where the man dropped a difficult chance. No such luck for Upul Tharanga as he hit one straight down mid on's throat with just 2 runs to his name. T. Odoyo was the man with the wicket and Tikolo took the catch. From then on in it was a doddle for Sangakkara and especially Jayasuriya. From the 3rd from last over he hit 23 off it, including 3 fours, a six, a two and a three. Next over he hit 18 from it with 3 fours and a six. He hit a boundary to finish things off and along the way collecting his 50. Jayasuriya finished on 51* from 22 balls and Sangakkara 10* off 15 deliveries. Kenya now out meaning the game between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is to see who tops the group.

Nice easy win there for SL to start the tournament with. Good work too!

This is simply " No Mercy " for Kenyan bowlers :p Only one positive for Kenya.. i.e, they played their full quota of 20 overs which is basic in any forms of OD cricket ;)

Australia vs England @ Newlands, Cape Town

England Changes: Plunkett in, Tremlett in, Shah out, Solanki out

England have been knocked out at the first hurdle being beaten by 5 wickets against Australia. Hayden thumped 41 and Bracken took 3 wickets to help the Aussies to a comfortable win.

England batted first and played poorly from the off. Firstly Loye was bowled by Lee for 6, Then Bracken got into the England attack. He trapped Pietersen LBW for 18 from 16 and the had Ian Bell caught by Johnson first ball. Then came the run out of Bopara by Hayden having faced only 1 ball. Collingwood was next to go for another duck LBW to Watson, leaving England at 35-5. Prior was battling on but he just had no one to stay with him. Flintoff was next to go for 1, Watson getting another LBW. Prior then was run out by Clark to make things even worse for England. Plunkett made 8 at a run a ball before he was stumped by Gilchrist from Hogg. Broad managed to rack up some alte order runs with the helpd of Tremlett (13) and Anderson (12). The Australian bowlers bowled extremely tight and restricted England to a poor total of 118. The track was hard and bouncy which helped Lee and Waston. Bracken claimed 3-27, Lee 2-25, Watson 2-20 and Hogg 1-8.

Australia started positively as usual with Gilchrist and Hayden thumping boundaries. Gilchrist fell for 13 being caught by Anderson off Flintoff. Ponting made a steady 18 before he was bowled by his opposite number, Paul Collingwood. Symonds didn't last long as Broad got his 1st trapping him LBW for 3. Hayden's wonderful onslaught ended with Broad cleaning him up on 41 (30). Tremlett got Watson for 10 but the damage had been done. Hussey crashed 25 not out and Hogg 9 not out to guide Australia hom with 29 balls to spare. Broad picked up 2 for 18 and Collingwood, Flintoff and Tremlett got 1 a piece. England have slumped out in the first round of the Twenty20 World Championships!

India vs Pakistan @ Kingsmead, Durban

India Changes: Chawla in, Kaif in, Uthappa out, Sreesanth out

Pakistan made a meal of chasing a low target by beating India by just 2 wickets. Under lights it was tough for both sides batting. RP Singh took the first 5 wickets in the tournament with 5-21.

India won the toss and batted on a perfect wicket for a twenty20 match. Not a lot of grass but under the lights it did a little with the new ball. India got off to the worst possible start losing Verinder Sehwag for a diamond duck, bowled by Asif. Then Gambhir and Karthik put on 34 before Karthik was stumped by a good piece of wicket keeping. Akmal standing up to Razzaq saw Kartthik lift his foot up for a second and took of the bails, Karthik made 17. Yuvraj Singh, the hero of the last match, came down to earth with a bump. He was caught by Nazir off Shahid Afridi for 1. Gambhir had made his way to 24 at a run a ball but couldn't answer a flighted ball by the captain Malik, being bowled. 10 runs later Dhoni went LBW to Hafeez for 15 and then Irfan Pathan was caught by Hafeez off the bowling of Malik for a golden duck. Things looking ugly at 68-6 and when Kaif was run out by Asi for 11 (10) there was no hope for India. The last 3 wickets put on 32 runs with Harbajhan Singh making 12, Chawla 14 and RP Singh 12*. India had slumped to the 3rd lowest score of the tournament so far on a good batting track. All the bowlers took a wicket, most noticeably Afridi who had figures of 4 overs, 2 for 19. India only made 106 a/o

Pakistan made steady progress at the start before Nazir went for 12 (14) bowled Khan, caught RP Singh with the score at 31. Butt was then bowled by Sehwag for a brisk 32 leaving only 65 to win. Hafeez made 20 at a strike rate of 200 before being stumped off the swing bowling of RP Singh, only 2 runs after Butt's departure. Younis Khan got to 8 before being bowled by the legspinner, Chawla. When Malik went for 15 the trouble started. RP Singh got the wickets of Malik, Akmal and Razzaq in 3 consecutive deliveries claiming the first ever international twenty20 hattrick. Pakistan on the ropes at 97-7 needing only 10 more for victory. RP Singh was able to get another wicket, that of Afridi (14), caught and bowled. Yasir Arafat saw Pakistan home with 9 not out, to give Pakistan a close 2 wicket victory.

Thats horrible display from India.. 106 is never going to enough in Twenty20s. It seems, even top teams like Aussies are struggling in this format considering, they lost 5 wkts to make just 110+ score.

I just dunno whats worng with these teams! I give them flat wickets and they make even worse scores. NZ the only team to pass 180 so far...

Nice, these are great! I love the scorecards for BLIC07:P I might play some on the PS2 tonight 20/20 style:)

Can't wait...
