Rudra Pratap Singh is ruled out of Sri Lanka match with thigh strain

Today the Indian team revealed that Indian bowling star Rudra Pratap Singh will miss the first super 8's match with Sri Lanka due to a thigh strain. RP Singh pulled up in training earlier today and will miss tomorrow's game. Singh took 5 for 21 from his 4 overs in their last match of the group stages vs Pakistan and will be sorely missed. Sreesanth, who was dropped last game in place of Chawla, is set to be back in the squad for the injured Singh. But Ajit Agarka is also a contender for the seamer spot.

RP Singh ruled out of super 8 match with Sri Lanka

In other news Bangladeshi captain Mohammad Ashraful has told the media that he believes this young Bangladesh side can go all the way. Ashraful praised his squad for the way they played in yesterday's match and said that "we can go all the way." Bangladesh play Zimbabwe in tomorrow's evening match and is sure that it will be a close match. "Zimbabwe have proved to be a good side and causing a big upset by defeating England. Other teams may underestimate us but with young squads we have proven that we can handle pressure. I am sure tomorrow it will be a very close game and an exciting match."

Blow for India :p now it will be interesting to see who get the chance :) Sreesanth or Agarkar . It should be Agarkar in IMO :) nice story and gret presentation Trev :clap

That is a big blow for the Indians. Rudra was doing so well and was on form aswell. Oh well. I would have Sreesanth in my own opinion as he is more aggressive towards the batsmen. Great works Trev. Looking forward to the next game :) Reps for your hard work so far :D

big blow for the indians,
i can't see an aussie upset they are so strong,

AUS vs LANKA final no doubts

India vs Sri Lanka @ New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

Sri Lanka brush aside yet another side to keep their unbeaten streak going. 40 off 20 balls from Sangakkara and 30* off 16 from Dilshan made sure Sri Lanka crused home with 11.4 overs to spare.

Things started badly for India as they put themselves into bat. They lost a wicket from the 3rd ball, Gambhir edging to Sangakkara who took a fantastic catch diving infront of slip. Gambhir went for 0 (2) to Chaminda Vaas, Karthik helped Sri Lanka get their 2nd as he skied a back of a length delivery to 3rd man where Vaas took a simple catch from Fernando. A big mix-up caused India to slump to 18-3, Sehwag being run out after slipping for just 3. Run outs were the order of the day and just as two set batsmen got going they ran themselves out. Firstly Singh went for 20 not being quick enough between the wickets, and a dive from Dhoni couldn't stop the run out on a quick fire 30. Kaif provided resistance with 21 but none of the bottom order could get a partnership. Jayasuriya took 2 wickets in 2 balls and Dilshan took 2-0 from 3 balls to finish things off. 100 exactly would never be enough for the inform Sri Lanka team.

Although lazy running from Tharanga caused a run out first ball Sangakkara blitzed an awesome 40 at 2-a-ball. Dilshan hit a quick 30* and it was all over in 50 balls. Pathan, Agarkar, H SIngh and a run out got the 4 wickets but nobody every threatened the very strong batting. Another victory in cruise mode for Sri Lanka who look hot favorites to make the final.

Ponting wants total anhilation

Today Ricky Ponting revealed that he wanted his side to anhilate the West Indies today to show the cricketing world that the Australians do take twenty20 cricket seriously. After reports of the Australian side taking this form of cricket as a joke Ponting has hit back calling for his side to show them how seriously they take it. "We take every form of cricket seriously and we want to win it. Today I want us to show all of you how us Aussies take this form of cricket by anhilating the West Indies. They have a good side but our lads have the talent to destroy any side. You will see the best today." Ponting will be able to lead his side out in front of a full house at Newlands today. The 1st game game for all the sides in the super 8's is crucial and this clash could prove vital for either side.

Games today in the T20 World Championships:
Australia vs West Indies
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe
Pakistan vs New Zealand

Typical stuff from Australia. All of those three game look good though Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe doesn't interest me that much. I hope Austrlia give it to the West Indies.

Australia vs West Indies @ Newlands, Cape Town

Australia do as the captain ordered by anhilating the West Indies at Cape Town. Gayle sparked in a gloomy Windies display with Ponting leading the fight for anhilation, scoring an incredibly comfortable 67.

The West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan won the toss and elected to field first. A full capacity crowd watched on to see the might of Australia brush aside a weak bowling attack. The first wicket came at 22/0 and that of Matthew Hayden. He made 12 from just 5 balls before being trapped LBW by an inswinging Taylor delivery. Gilchrist was next to go with a slightly scratch 17 in 23 balls. Bravo bowled him to leave West Indies in the driving seat early on. Then a partnership of 96 between Ponting and Clarke provided the platform for some lower order hitting. Ponting was a class above the rest hitting 67 in just 38 deliveries. Clarke went first bowled by Bravo and Hussey also followed by hitting a six, then being trapped LBW by Bravo. Ponting finally went, caught Edwards bowled Powell, to an outstanding ovation from the Cape Town capacity crowd. Hogg made a 2 ball duck being cleaned up by Powell but Lee and Symonds provided the impitous to take Australia passed 200. Symonds cruched 38* from 17 balls and Lee 29* also from 17 balls. The biggest score of the tournament so far of 204-6 tallied by Australia. Gayle, Samuels, Bravo and Taylor were all very expensive, but Bravo claimed 3 wickets. Edwards was economical and Powell picked up 2 wickets.

The West Indies needed to get off to a flier to chase down this monster score, and did via some awesome hitting from Chris Gayle. He crunched most of the 50 runs before the first wicket went down, that of Devon Smith for 8 caught by Symonds from Clark's bowling. Gayle's magical hitting came to an end with a silly run out. No need to take the risky single with him hitting the ball how he was and a direct hit by Hogg saw the back of him. An amazing 61 from 19 balls broke the international twenty20 record for quickest 50. From then on the West Indies crumbled, not getting a partnership of 12 runs or more. Symonds rounded off a fantastic knock picking up the wickets of Samuels, Chanderpaul and Sarwan. Bracken and Johnson also took 2 and Hogg 1. An incredible collapse of 70/2 to 103 a/o in just 9.4 overs. Australia picked up an 101 run win to increase their chances of qualifiying for the semi-finals.
