Shahzad and Stanikzai had put up a solid partnership and the frustration was sure to be seen in the Lankan camp. However, it vanished all very quickly. Shahzad went for a bizarre run as he didn't look at Stanikzai who wasn't interested in that single. It was Chandimal's day on the field as he threw it to the bowler who took the bails out. Shahzad was out for a well made 47 from as many balls. But, his team was in trouble. It went even worse as Randiv removed Stanikzai in his last over. A wild slog resulted in an easy catch for Kulasekara.

Now, the wickets fell like a pack of cards. The difference between the teams could be seen. Perera and Mathews quickly wrapped up the tail and Sri Lanka won the match with a huge margin of 35 runs. Thisara Perera was adjudged the man of the match for his all round effort.

Very unlucky for Afghanis. After a well settled partnership they couldn't managed to give an upset. Really waiting for the second match.
