A Quick Guide to the Blind Auction

This season, we're trialling a method of allocating players which I believe is the most realistic method we've seen on PlanetCricket. I'm guessing it's probably been done before, but I haven't seen it.

Each team will have ?500,000 to spend on their fifteen-man squads. Each squad should contain no more than: five overseas players, one overseas local and one retired local. Despite a shortage of U-19 players in the auction pool, teams will also be requiring one U-19 local.

The way this auction will work is that you cannot place bids on more than three players per round, and you place these bets by Private Message.
Example PM said:
Ed Joyce - 55k
Peter Connell - 33k
Chinthaka Jayasinhe - 50k
If you are the only manager to bid for a player in the round, then you get that player. If more than one manager bids for the player, then there will be one more round to decide who gets that player. In this case, the highest bidder in the second round gets the player.

Hopefully this all makes sense, but you can of course ask any questions in the thread.

That makes sense. Hope it runs smoothly, have seen auctions go balls-up, but I reckon you can make it work. ;)

Good news, folks, Simon has been confirmed as the new Coleraine manager, and the auction begins immediately. Keep your eyes on this thread for updates.

I've found that Nathan Waller holds Irish as well as Zimbabwean nationality. He will be included from the next round of the auction onwards.

Is it possible to get a co-manager. As I am away on holiday from tomorrow, for a week.

As El Loco appears to be away, and there hasn't been an appplication for his co- spot yet, I've random.org-ed his picks.

Will post the first auction update in a couple of minutes, sorry it's all going so slowly.

I'm really sorry guys, but I'm going to have to call this a day. It looks like the blind auction was too much hassle for everyone, and with another batch of exams coming up soon, I should really cut my workload. Sorry to do this to everyone.
