erm should probable be closed, most 'free' music software such as ableton lite, reason adapted etc are only 'free' when certain software (such as pro tools) or hardware (such as an Mbox) are bought, and anything which is totally free (possible garage band) are crap and pointless.

You are probably looking too deeply into 'music' editing. I'd assume something more like Audacity would be linked to here (plonk .sf.net on the end of its name to get the site).

That being said there isn't much point to this thread, there are plenty of other threads on the site that cover these sort of things, I'm sure I remember someone posting a huge link directory for things like this. Failing that, Google.
