Yeah I'd rather see a game completely missing out the most important part of the cricket summer and instead concentrate on two tournaments established in the last 2 years.

Anyway, C09 will have the 20/20 World Cup licenced, meaning the new Codies game almost certainly won't.

I think I'm looking forward to this game more than EA's repackaged game.

Man I hate the Ashes!!
I hope is more based on the 20/20 world cup and IPL:D

This years ashes have two T20 games ... I m sure that will be included in the game ...also intrested to know who gets the ECB , Cricket Australia licnesce?
Codemasters can also add some fake T20 tournaments

Mere fact that this game will be next-gen steals the show from EA. EA's game is a mediocre effort and it is PC only. As far as we know to date, EA cricket would use the same pathetic Graphic Engine and AI (Abundant idiocy). I hope Codies game is a much better effort. Its sure to be better graphically but most of us are interested in better game play with competitive AI for loners like me.

BLIC 2007 was on 360, which fulfils the general next-gen requirement, and EA's ended up on top in 07.

Yeah I know that but if you read my complete post, I have mentioned that BLIC will need better AI. Also Ck07 had a lot more work done on it. But that apparently will not be the case with CK09

Is it true that CK09 will only be on PC? If that's the case then BLIC will smash EA in sales as it's cross platform and next-gen (2nd time around) graphics.

I just don't see anything so far that would give anyone a reason to look forward to this game either. The only difference with C09 is that we already know what it will be like, I can't say after BLIC07 I'm that hopeful they will make major changes to AI.

Which leaves them with just fancy graphics.

Well lets keep our fingers crossed and lets hope they do a lot more than graphic with Ashes cricket. BLIC07 lacked in so many things. Animation, absence of any career mode, an overtly arcade style of play and lackluster AI are a few of obvious things. The game had potentially fun bowling mechanics but AI ruined the fun when they batted. Codies need to do a lot of things right to give us a decent cricket game that is more of a simulation appealing to hardcore fans like most of us here are on Planetcricket.

BLIC2007 had everything going for it pre-release - next-gen and online play - but was worse than BLIC2005 imo.

To be fair, its a bit like saying that you look forward to lung cancer over testicular cancer though!
