UFC 97 last night, was an OK event. Not the best I've seen. Silva disappointed once more. Was expecting him to be really up for putting on a good show for the fans after his last fight, didn't happen, was another borefest. Liddell vs Shogun was good though. Liddell has done the same thing 2 fights in a row though, looked on top and looked comfortable and then just been undone by 1 good punch. Could be age, or it could just be a matter of bad luck. Can't see him retiring though, especially with the sort of money he's pulling in per fight!
The rest of the card was good, the first fight was really good, Cane looked really vicious. His head kicks to Cantwell were vicious. Kongo vs Hardonk was a decent fight as well, I expected Cheik to come out on top, and he did. Fairly convincing TKO victory.
Can't say I was particularly impressed with Matt Wiman either. He looked incredibly tired and lazy after the first round, and never looked remotely like forming any sort of worthwhile offence against Stout. Stout deserved his win.
The next event will be a good'un as well. Machida vs Evans with the winner taking on Rampage. Was disappointed to hear that Rampage had to have surgery and couldn't make 98, but I'm sure we'll see him back and firing for either Evans or Machida. Also got Matt Serra vs Matt Hughes as well, should be a good fight that one. Hughes has beaten BJ Penn in his career, also beaten Royce Gracie as well, so he's got some talent. Serra's clearly got some skills as well, beating GSP for the Welterweight title so Serra vs Hughes is gonna be a good'un.
The one I'm really looking forward to is UFC 100. So many good fights on the cards. Lesnar vs Mir, GSP vs Thiago Alves, Henderson vs Bisping and also Belcher vs Akiyama. Gonna be one hell of an event that one. Bruce Buffer's going to bring out the double spin as well apparently :hpraise
Edit: Just saw on MMANews.com that Dana White has said that the Shogun fight is Chuck Liddells last

I hope Chuck denies the claims and proves Dana wrong and proves he's not passed it. He didn't look over the hill in that last fight, he was looking good until the Knockdown punch. He's been a fantastic servant of the UFC if he has retired, one of mine and alot of others favourite fighters, legend of UFC!
