Yeah I know about this. This is just ridiculous. There are tons of quotas for people who do not even deserve a place in the college. If they want a seat let them prove themselve and not get into a college/school with the quota system ...:@

I agree with you, even i was a SSC student, Board is just getting worst day by day, confusing the students with every new quota and crap, if i want admission in good college it's me who is responsible to score that much as per the cut offs.

We are already in July and the FYJC college has not yet started, forget about starting, only the first merit list is put on.(Maharashtra) as per board it will take 1st or 2nd week of August, FYJC regarded as base for preparing the next exam, will start so late, Accounts, and also subjects in Science stream are totally new for them, wonder how will they get into it.

And Kapil Sibbal says to eliminate 10th boards, Even ATKT is allowed for 10th and 12th standard students what's your take guys? ATKT is good as one academic year is saved and we can over come with the remaining subjects . but is it right to scrap 10th boards?

this sounds confusing haha. how does the system work in india?
is this a pre-university thing? equivalent to VCE or HSC that we have in australia?

Pre-Pre-University thing. They're currently talking about school boards.

Simply, Education starts with School, they call it Primary (education) schools till the 5th standard. Then the High(*--er education) School after 5th, i.e from the 6th Standard. This education system comes under various boards, like State (State board of Secondary Education), ICSC, CBSC and more i guess, but those two are primarily preferred. The 10th standard will have the board examinations, which are simply pass-out or get-out, (kind of, in harsh words) If you want to get higher education, you need to pass out 10th Standard. (You know)

Then the Intermediate, this is for 2 years. The Pre-University thing, Also called as (:p) "The College." Basically, it consists of all the courses and subject as foundation to Degree education (Univ.)

You get to choose varrrrriooous courses, mainly being M.P.C (Maths, physics and Chemistry) and Bi.P.C, (Biology, physics and Chemistry{?}) and many courses. Goodness knows why Students think they're the only two fields they have to pursue.

So, that runs for two years and at the end of the two years, you have the B.I.E (Board of Intermediate Education) Exams and with that, come Entrance exams like MHCET, EAMCET, AIEEE, IIT, which are simply a workout to get into good universities. (Some of them are obviously based on Choices system, just tick the correct answer from 4 options given.)

Then, the university. Ah. You know.

And i tried to describe it as simply as is reasonable. Hope you gather it. :)

I don't know which is the toughest board, but the West Bengal board here is certainly the easiest of all boards. Believe me! Class X exams here are quite a stroll in the park! A tiny syllabus having nothing at all...and I purely blame the Communist govt in Bengal for this.

Even I can write and read Hindi (and of course speak it :p)...

I don't want to know why you guys are having problems with it
