Is there anyone out there who wants to play?
After the wonderful Ashes win yesterday I headed on to Xbox Live to play a few hours of cricket .... but what I actually got was four hours of pure frustration.
First up I tried to get an Ashes test match, got in a room with a decent bloke. However the lag was so terrible that the marker would be on one part of the track, then the bowler would deliver, the ball would freeze in mid and then the marker would move .... it was unplayable, so there was no point in playing. However I'd had the same thing a day earlier and messaged the other guy to say I was pulling out because I couldn't even see the ball, and he sent me a message back saying "Yeah yeah, whatever loser!", so I didn't want to become known as a quitter ... so this time I just sent the guy a message saying it was unplayable for me and I just let him bowl me out twice.
The I finally got into a T20 game, and got off to a good start, so the other guys starts using his worst bowler and bowling bouncers at 27mph which were almost unhittable ... I got trapped LBW with a ball that travelled at 27mph and bounced twice. I managed to get about 120 runs, but refused to stoop to his level and ultimately got crushed.
Then I spent the next few hours getting into games, getting off to a decent start with either the bat or bowl, and then having the other guy quit out in the 3rd over (I swear I've never left so many negative feedbacks).
I finally got into a game at about midnight with a good guy, we had a great game, he probably would have beaten me but got himself run out a few times, his batting was much better than mine.
I'm not even really very good at the game, but because a lot of people who play T20 just think you have to hit a 6 every ball it's quite easy to contain them. Everytime I get paired with someone who wants to play some proper cricket, I often lose, but it's good fun and have had some close games (I actually drew a T20 match last week after I gave away 2 overthrows on the last ball) ..... and that's what I want, some fun cricket. I don't care if I win or not!
If anyone would like to play some proper cricket with quitting or resorting to unsportsman like tactics, please post here or send me a friends request on Xbox Live.
I just want to play cricket.
