The Deodhar Trophy has undergone numerous changes as per what the latest press conference said. The major change what it saw was the allowance of 3 overseas players per squad and 2 on field, because BCCI felt that the this tournament deserved some hype and playing some big names can help it in achieve that. It is also understood that BCCI has created a window for this among themselves, so that all the main players of Team India take part in it. The Idea of Invitational team was pulled out because of allowance of overseas players in squads.
This time, five team play the Deodhar Trophy (North Zone, East Zone, South Zone, West Zone and Central Zone). It is also interesting to know that the tournament has been rescheduled to the time Dussehera takes place in India considering that its a week holiday for almost all people. Its a single round robin, with the top team making it into final and second and third placed teams fight for the final spot in preliminary final.
