The Deodhar Trophy has undergone numerous changes as per what the latest press conference said. The major change what it saw was the allowance of 3 overseas players per squad and 2 on field, because BCCI felt that the this tournament deserved some hype and playing some big names can help it in achieve that. It is also understood that BCCI has created a window for this among themselves, so that all the main players of Team India take part in it. The Idea of Invitational team was pulled out because of allowance of overseas players in squads.

This time, five team play the Deodhar Trophy (North Zone, East Zone, South Zone, West Zone and Central Zone). It is also interesting to know that the tournament has been rescheduled to the time Dussehera takes place in India considering that its a week holiday for almost all people. Its a single round robin, with the top team making it into final and second and third placed teams fight for the final spot in preliminary final.

Schedule:
Opening Ceremony at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Southern SteelMen Home Ground)
Match 1: Western Wranglers v Central Crusaders at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Match 2: Eastern Mustangs v Northern Storm at Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Match 3: Eastern Mustangs v Western Wranglers at JSCA International Cricket Stadium, Ranchi
Match 4: Northern Storm v Southern SteelMen at Feroz Shah Kotla Maidan, Delhi.
Match 5: Central Crusaders v Southern SteelMen at Holkar Stadium, Indore
Match 6: Western Wranglers v Northern Storm at VCA Stadium, Nagpur.
Match 7: Northern Storm v Central Crusaders at PCA Stadium, Mohali
Match 8: Southern SteelMen v Eastern Mustangs at M.Chinnaswami Stadium, Bengaluru.
Match 9: Central Crusaders v Eastern Mustangs at Rajkot.
Match 10: Southern SteelMen v Western Wranglers at M.A.Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Preliminary Final: Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune.

Final: Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.

North Zone Announce Their Squad

North Zone chief selector, Mr. AD Chopra announced the squad of the Northern Storm in the Deodhar Trophy, 2012. Virat Kohli was given the captaincy, and the inclusion of big names like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh meant that North Zone was completely star studded team. In addition to these players, the three overseas players make the team over powerful.

"We've decided to rope in the services of Kumara Sangakkara, Angelo Mathews and Brad Haddin, what could really boost our side. The technical committee of our team discussed on whom to rope in and had successful talks with them. We've decided to give the captaincy to Virat Kohli, as per what most of the senior members of the squad suggested."

The bowling isn't the best, but will forward to seeing Harmeet Singh play.

West Zone all the way! With AB and Sanga gone, WZ need a good batting keeper apart from Parthiv. I wonder who it will be...

West Zone announce their squad

West Zone chief selector Lalchand Rajput announced the squad of Western Wranglers for the Deodhar trophy. Sachin Tendulkar, the captain of the side was also present at the press meet. With the likes of Chateshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, with bombs like Pathan Brothers alongside Sachin Tendulkar, their batting looked perfect. Bowling attack was fairly weaker, what meant they roped in few overseas bowlers in Mitchell Starc, Sunil Narine and Graeme Swann, who will join Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar, Irfan Pathan.

Bad team. Bowling needed some more bite. Munaf Patel should have been there.

West Zone needs the likes of Munaf, Morne and Kallis more than any other team around.
