Big Bang Theory

I love it
especially the Indian guy who can't talk to girls unless hes drunk :p

It's American comedy, ergo, it is based around stereotypes. It's just not funny, it's predictable. I want something to make me laugh because it's so flipping stupid, Monty Python for instance.

America just can't do comedy like us Brits do (or did).

If you call the Indian guy with his parents on the Laptop Broadband predictible you should go ahead and start your own comedy because i would have never though of alot of those comdedys.

So you're a camp, closet homosexual, mega geek who has an 'interesting' choice of clothing. Not exactly sure we wanted to know that ;p
Not quite. More of a heterosexual megageek who takes things far too seriously and often provides scientific explanations to instances that hav little importance.

And Sheldon's not gay.

How could you miss Family Guy ?! I'm a great Scrubs fan, but it's getting ridiculously silly this season.

FG is good, but its not that great past the first couple of seasons. Scrubs kinda lost it for me last season but the first few seasons were absolutely hilarious.

Animated is a big part Lee. Simpsons has been dying a slow death for ages, the first series were so much funnier.

I've been really enjoying Big Bang Theory when I remember its on (I'm too lazy to series record it!). What makes me laugh most is when something happens in the series and I can relate to it. Scares the hell outta me!!!

It is a myth that Americans do comedy worse than the British. For every Two and a Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond or Big Bang Theory there's a Green, Green Grass or a My Family. Similarly for every Monty Python there's a Futurama or an Arrested Development.

In fact the best example is in The Office. If you get past the first series, the USA edition is far superior. It is a different beast, being a little more abstract but Steve Carell is a far more likeable lead character than David Brent. He manages to marry the ridiculous with the real-world context far better (Brent does a music video for example.)

The fact is that the American media industry is on a different level to everywhere else. Its output of high quality programming is so far above everyone else's it is unreal. Sure there are bad programs and there are good non-American features too. However the Americans consistently have more high quality shows than anyone else.

The Wire is brilliant by the way, as well as being funnier than most other programs, despite the dark and depressing depiction of Baltimore society seeming to contradict it.

I like the American office but refuse to watch paramount anymore as every single time they go to an ad break they decide to turn up the sound to the maximum they can afford without killing anyone. We can hear your stupid adverts ffs

Anyway this is pretty funny, I think I've only watched the last half of a couple after Johnathon woss if i'm being sad and staying home on a friday :p

Not helping our case. :p

Agree with SS somewhat, most of the shows from here are pretty dull and not very funny. Some exceptions IMO:

M*A*S*H
Scrubs
Seinfeld
Older Simpsons
Arrested Development
Drew Carey Show

Best of them all.
