The AFCON Africa Cup of Nations, simply known as the Africa Cup of Nations is the top-tier African cricket championship played in the 50-over format.
The 2001 AFCON Africa Cup of Nations will be the inaugural season of the tournament. It will be played in Zimbabwe from March 4 to 11.​
 
TEAMS

In 2001, the African Confederation of Nations confirmed the participation of all four Full Member AFCON nations for the inaugural edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
At the start of the tournament, South Africa were the best-ranked African team according to the WCC ODI Team Rankings, being ranked 18th in the the world.

Hosts Zimbabwe were ranked 22nd while newly admitted WCC members Morocco and the languishing Egyptians were ranked 26th and 27th respectively.

Squads

Each team taking part in the competition is required to name a 15-player squad at the start of the tournament.
No upgrades can be spent to improve players mid-tournament; upgrades must be made during squad announcement, or before.

Lineups

Playing XIs are required to contain at least one capable wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:/:arwk:) and four bowling (:arwk:/:bwl:/:ar:) options.
Designated captain (:c:) at the start of the tournament can not be dropped unless injured or unavailable.

Format

All four teams are placed in a single ladder where each team plays the other three teams once.
The top-two teams at the end of the single round-robin group stage will advance to the final.

2001 AFCON Africa Cup of Nations Final will be played at the Harare Sports Club.

Points System

AFCON uses the following system to award points:

Win: 3 points / Tie: 2 points / N/R: 1 point / Loss: 0 points

Player Injuries

Injuries are randomly simulated to give this league somewhat of a realistic feel.
Players that play without a rest are more likely to get injured.

Following are the types of injuries:

Rules

Your squad for the tournament must consist of EXACTLY fifteen players
You must mark your captain (:c:) for the tournament; they can not be dropped unless injured
You must have at least one wicket-keeper (:wkb:) in your squad; but you are advised two
No upgrades can be spent mid-tournament; upgrades must be made before squad announcement

Deadline

48 hours - failure to submit squad within given deadline will result in auto-selection.
