The AFCON Africa Cup of Nations is a 50-over One-Day International tournament held annually between the top cricket-playing African nations in the world.
The 2002 AFCON Africa Cup of Nations was the second edition of the tournament. It was played in South Africa for the first time.

South Africa won the tournament for the second time after defeating Morocco in the final by 144 runs at a packed New Wanderers Stadium.​
 
TEAMS

In early 2002, the African Confederation of Nations confirmed the participation of three full member AFCON nations for the second edition of the tournament.
Coming into the tournament, hosts South Africa were the best-ranked African team according to the World ODI Team Rankings, being ranked 9th in the the world.

Morocco were ranked 25th while newly admitted World Cricket Conference members Namibia were ranked 33rd in the world.
Former AFCON members Algeria, Egypt and Zimbabwe did not take part in the tournament, and missed out for the first time.

Squads

Each team taking part in the competition is required to name a 15-player squad at the start of the tournament.
No upgrades can be spent to improve players mid-tournament; upgrades must be made during squad announcement, or before.

Lineups

Playing XIs are required to contain at least one capable wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:/:arwk:) and four bowling (:arwk:/:bwl:/:ar:) options.
Designated captain (:c:) at the start of the tournament can not be dropped unless injured or unavailable.

Format

All three teams are placed in a single ladder where each team plays the other two teams twice.
The top-two teams at the end of the single round-robin group stage advance to the final.

2002 AFCON Africa Cup of Nations Final will be played at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

AFCON uses the following system to award points:

Win: 3 points / Tie: 2 points / N/R: 1 point / Loss: 0 points

Player Injuries

Injuries are randomly simulated to give this league somewhat of a realistic feel.
Players that play without a rest are more likely to get injured.
