Unchanged for Peshawar Region.

Head, Miller and Starc were subdued quite a bit in the first leg by Dambulla, really hope they break free from their shackles and performer like they're meant to, because relying on an all-Pakistani batting lineup to get the job done every single time is quite risky, so we desperately need our overseas trio to pull through big.

Same team but Rathnayake bats above Mendis, at 4
Been a very impressive run so far, if we lose the semifinals on 2 turners we only have ourselves to blame tbh

Batting needs to comes good as we are light on it, Changing batting order if it may helps.

Bumrah and Tillakaratne struck to make it an even session of gameplay for both sides.

Sahibzada Farhan scored majority of the runs in this period. Currently batting on 39, he has been guilty of wasting starts.
Today would be a great opportunity to not make the same mistake.

Peshawar are in grave danger now!

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Kamindu Mendis have turned this fixture into their favour.
Gurbaz was also run-out like Hope but not without reaching his milestone.
Peshawar have fielded exceedingly well and taken their few chances.

Twist in the tale?!

Sonal Dinusha perished trying to slog-sweep for a boundary off the first ball of the over.
Then, Ashan Priyanjan couldn't score and got run-out by Travis Head.
An ideal over for Peshawar and Dambulla need Kamindu to get few boundaries ASAP!

Dambulla win the battle but Peshawar win the war!!!

Similar to the first leg, the first innings was around the 250 mark. This time Peshawar batted first.
Sahibzada Farhan struck 87 while Miller made an unbeaten fifty.
Duvindu Tillakaratne bowled well and got 3 important scalps.
Wanindu Hasaranga picked all of the last 5 wickets and ended with a 6-fer.

Dambulla openers showed their class and got their team a great start.
Gill could not convert his start but Rahmanullah Gurbaz made a century to remember.
Next good partnership came between Gurbaz and Kamindu Mendis and it looked like Dambulla were all set for the finals spot.

Instead, we saw Peshawar producing outstanding moments in the field and Dambulla choking towards the end.
Kamindu Mendis continously gave strike to the lower-order batters and they just couldn't measure up to the bowling excellency of the away side.
Dambulla did complete the run chase but this victory felt like a huge loss.

Damn, I really thought we had the team to go all the way but fair play to Peshawar

im sure they could have done it if there was a way for the match engine to be informed of the 45 over cutoff
Yeah the sim always tends to kinda drag out these cases in my experience; anyway can't blame anyone but ourselves, this was always a scenario once we lost the first leg

Really happy with the overall performance though, lost just one game in the entire tournament and some last minute backups like Haris Rauf and Gurbaz were amongst the best

LESSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I was so sure we were bottling man, I ain't gonna lie. After seeing them get the start they got, I thought it was all over for us. Happy to be in the final but that defeat does outline some of the areas we're really lacking in, particularly from our overseas trio. Miller, Head and Starc need to get their shit together for the final, or we're plain toast.

Devdutt Padikkal into the 80s and Narayan Jagadeesan supporting him well.

New Zealander Michael Rippon takes out the fellow kiwi Daryl Mitchell
but South Zone are firmly in the front seat of this innings.

Perfect time for South Zone to up the ante and work towards a strong finish.

Devdutt Padikkal will get his century but he did harm his team's cause towards the backend of his innings.
Azmatullah Omarzai played a cameo but South Zone couldn't finish above the 300-run mark.
Naseem Shah picked 2 wickets in the death overs but he was taken for quite some runs.

Also, interesting captaincy from Latham to only give 5 overs to Kuldeep.

Canterbury need to score 288 runs in 40.5 overs or less. Not an easy task against such a strong opposition.
But they have the players to achieve mammoth scores if they play at their potential.
2nd half of the game coming up now.

Canterbury are steadily climbing up the ladder.
Their run-rate is going above 6 now.

Klaasen was unfortunate to be dismissed on 49 but Livingstone reached his fifty (and departed not long after).
Sai Kishore took both those wickets.

Tom Latham has looked amazing in his stay and with the right support, this game could go in their favour.

Not the best match by Rashid Khan's standards but that would count as a good over
with respect to the match situation.

Brandon McMullen tried his best and found 2 boundaries in that over.
Vasuki Koushik has been thrown the ball to defend in the all-important over for South Zone.
Mayank Agarwal with a moment of brilliance or foolishness?

Canterbury need 15 runs in 5 balls or less

Code:
40.1 Koushik to Latham, no run, A lot of movement being extracted by Koushik
40.2 Koushik to Latham, one run, That is very well run by Brandon McMullen
40.3 Koushik to McMullen, FOUR, Who needs Bradman when weve got Brandon McMullen

344440.jpg

He's done well in the first 3 balls. Vasuki Koushik only needs to finish well now.
Latham took 2 balls to get a single but McMullen struck a four to keep Canterbury's chances alive.
Brandon McMullen, this is make-or-break territory. What will be the outcome?

Canterbury need 10 runs in 2 balls or less

Code:
40.4 Koushik to McMullen, no run, Huge appeal for LBW but turned down
40.5 Koushik to McMullen, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though

One of the greatest run-chase you'll witness but in the end, it wasn't enough to overcome South Zone's early advantage for Canterbury.

South Zone scored 287 in their first innings, on the back of a century from Devdutt Padikkal.
Narayan Jagadeesan also played a brilliant knock of 67. Omarzai and Sudharsan hit 30s.
Kuldeep Yadav and Naseem Shah picked braces but South Zone had found a total very defendable,
or at least enough to save their NRR lead.

Canterbury had nothing to lose and despite the openers not delivering, their middle-order produced a thrilling display
with Brandon McMullen top-scoring with 83*. Klaasen and Livingstone set the base for Latham and McMullen to explode.
A super expensive over from Coetzee gave Canterbury a lifeline but
Vasuki Koushik clutched and defended 10 runs off 5 balls to save the finals spot for South Zone.

Code:
SOUTH ZONE 287/7 50.0 overs
CANTERBURY 288/5 42.2 overs

Canterbury won by 5 wickets (with 46 balls remaining)

Man of the match: Brandon McMullen (CAT)

Great batting and poor bowling on spin friendly track, expected Rashid to led the attack on this surface, but happy we're advancing to the finale. Facing my Peshawar boys will be a different feel, after managing the players in two different leagues.

The Final

:ind: South Zone vs :pak: Peshawar Region at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Pitch type - :ar::up: Evenly Balanced
@Aravind. || @Na Maloom Afraad

Lineup Rules:
  • Minimum one WK (:wk:) in your XI
  • Must have at least six bowling options (:ar:/:bwl:)
  • Play as many overseas (:os:) options as you want from your squad
  • Don't forget to mark your bowling options and keeper, when applicable.

48 hours to post your lineups

Types of pitches available

:bwl::down: Damp/Sticky - Massively in favor of bowlers and an absolute nightmare to bat on, unless you're Victor Trumper.
:left::right: Dusty - Plenty of turn on offer for spinners and a good place to bat for spin-savvy batsmen. Good pace bowlers are still likely to thrive.
:ar::up: Evenly balanced - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
:bat::left: Flat - A batsman-friendly pitch which provides little or no assistance to bowlers. Expect big totals.
:bwl::up: Green - A lot of movement on offer early on, which makes it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball. Batting expected to become easier as the match progresses.
:ar::left: Hard - Ideal conditions for batting. Good deal of bounce on offer for fast bowlers as well. Could go either way
:right::left: Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.
:down: Poor - Uneven bounce and a huge amount of turn on offer for spinners. Expect a slow hard grind where most batsmen rarely score at above 2 an over.
