INDIA ARE INTO THE FINAL UNBEATEN!!!

Virat Kohli's "big-match" innings and an all-round clinic from Hardik Pandya give India the T20 World Cup Final in Barbados! Virat Kohli, a man for big occasions, turned up with his best innings all tournament right after coming back from a prolonged injury. With South Africa finding breakthroughs regularly, Virat Kohli's staunch 43-ball 88 formed the bedrock of India's innings. Aided profusely by Yashasvi Jaiswal's blistering 40 from 29, and Hardik Pandya's equally fast-paced 42 off 23 deliveries, these three batsmen were the only to enter double-figures for India, and their efforts were just enough to propel them to 177 before they were bowled out in the final over.

Gerald Coetzee and Anrich Nortje shared 9 wickets between themselves, with the remaining 1 wicket falling in Aiden Markram's lap. Aside from Coetzee and Nortje, all other South African bowlers were pretty ineffective against Kohli, Jaiswal and later on, Pandya. Anrich Nortje even claimed a hat trick in the final over to put India's innings aside.

South Africa's chase was off to a horrid start, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar squandering the powerplay for the Proteas. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen went on a counterattack, and a pretty successful one at that, as the two brought South Africa's chase back to life with fast-paced knocks. Hardik Pandya dismissed Markram, just as he was about to truly explode, and then got rid of David Miller two deliveries later to exert pressure back on to South Africa's innings. Marco Jansen was sent back the next over by Kuldeep Yadav, and a small little cat-and-mouse game later, Yadav also got the better of Heinrich Klaasen, as he holed out trying to attack the spinner.

With 37 needed off the last 18 balls, South Africa only really had Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj at their disposal, and they too were taken care of in the space of three balls by Hardik Pandya. Varun Chakravarthy delivered the killing blow by dismissing Gerald Coetzee and completed India's 26-run win over South Africa in this semi-final.

ZIMBABWE ARE WORLD CUP FINALISTS!!!

Perhaps, the most famous win in Zimbabwean cricket history has just launched them into a T20 World Cup Final against India at the Kensington Oval! Zimbabwe, defend 134/9 on the back of a stellar bowling performance to win by 13 runs and become World Cup finalists for the first time in their history! Remarkable scenes as the players mob each other on the field following their historic win. Afghanistan on the other hand, are heartbroken to have come so far and to have fallen so flat in the semifinal.

Zimbabwe, asked to bat first, finished on 134/9 with Sikandar Raza leading the way from the front with a stoic 40 off 42 deliveries, soaking in all pressure and facing the music of Afghanistan's attack. And while Stephen Eskinazi and Brian Bennett gave Zimbabwe a solid platform, and Ryan Higgins' little cameo added much respectability to Zimbabwe's final score, it was Raza's knock that really laid the foundation of this win. He stood on business against one of the most formidable bowling attacks in T20 cricket, and delivered a captain's knock under pressure, just as he has all World Cup. But with the stakes raised up as high as they can be, his innings today was extra special. One of the finest knocks on a pitch known to be a nightmare, and on an occasion that can really cement one's legacy in history books forever. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq delivered with the ball, but they're figures could not keep Zimbabwe at bay to a below-par total, largely because of how loose the other bowlers were.

Afghanistan's chase relied heavily on Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who was dismissed in the second over by Richard Ngarava. Ngarava struck once more in the powerplay, getting rid of Hashmatullah Shahidi, who was clearly struggling to middle the ball. With Ibrahim Zadran going strong, Afghanistan still managed to squeeze 41 runs in the powerplay, despite the two dismissals. Blessing Muzarabani removed Azmatullah Omarzai in the tenth over, but the biggest moment of the game came when Sikandar Raza finally found a chink in Ibrahim Zadran's armour, and caught him plumb on the last delivery of his fourth over. As the required run rate climbed for Afghanistan, a need to lash out resulted in Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan's wickets tumbling in the most untimely of fashions, as three batsmen most capable of putting their foot on the pedal perished without having much impact on the chase. Despite starting off with a six, Tom Curran's penultimate over seemingly sealed the deal for Zimbabwe by reducing them to their final pair, and leaving 17 runs for Ryan Higgins to defend off the final over against Afghanistan's number ten and eleven batsmen. And defend them, he did, and rather comfortably, as Zimbabwe completed their historic 13-run victory to become World Cup Finalists for the first time in their cricketing history.
