Unfinished retro project (Waste's World XI shared)

Started working on one of my favourite projects that I never finish: 1990s World Cup sides.

Been working on some player faces. Think I'll try Australia and England first. That way, when I inevitably abandon the project, I might be able to pivot for a 1990s Ashes series.

Right all shared now. I'm mostly happy with what's there, but that doesn't mean I won't go back and make further changes. Doing the skills has at least forced me away from constant tweaking of player appearances. The error checks helped me pick up a few with the wrong hands for batting or bowling.

It's called 'Waste's World XI 1990s'. There's three unique line ups 'Border', 'Richards' and 'Gooch'. A couple of very basic kits and I've added stadiums from around the world, they're modern but I ain't going back and making retro versions of stadiums.

Just some notes.

If you have downloaded any of mouseydread's players there are probably quite a few I've used as a base, so you may want to consider sharing as a copy/duplicate when prompted.
Skills are based around the base game so if you've made big changes to sliders then they might be issues. Would be interested to know how they fare in terms of power. I'm fairly happy with the bowling speeds from a test I ran. The fielding too, be interested to know any feedback from there.

Skills is done bringing back the Dean Johnes Method. Sat with about three spreadsheets meticulously updating and implementing that :laughter: . Used my system from Cricket 22 as a baseline I tried to update a little and compensate for perks being removed from the game. Players will have a low overall rating, compared with base game players, but generally I'd just ignore that. I put 'balance' before anything and the players are all balanced - most of them are about the same but with some subtle differences, or with skills to suit their mentality or based on knowledge of the players.

If there's anything that sticks out like a sore thumb I'm happy to take any feedback. There's a good chance a few of them I may go back and make cosmetic changes. And if a do a 2000s version I can update (I may move some players out of the 90s squad and replace them with other players).

Might follow up with a 2000s version or fill out squads for specific World Cups. Although I feel like I'd prefer to do the former because it means I could focus on some playfaces and get big time players in.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the great work mate. I had to download all the players individually from the player search because they didn't appear in the team squad.

Will have a look at this myself
@Kiko_97 is right it's something that's been happening in the CA for a while now I don't think it's anything on your end. The only players I could see were the West Indies players and I think that's because I had already downloaded them. The academy is a buggy mess at times but it's worth persisting for all your great work.

I ended up creating an Australia XI to play a World XI, I put in a David Boon to open just to flesh the batting out for Australia a bit. I didn't make the World XI bowling too OP for this match and put Chris Harris in there for a bit of representation and as an Australian I will relish any opportunity to smash Phil Tufnell around the park, looking forward to the match.

One thing that really annoys me about the creation in this game is that they don't allow you to customise the colour of individual hats and helmets, having Aussies wear white floppy hats and some of the English and Kiwi players wear white helmets would add so much more realism and the removal of retro items from DBC 14 still annoys me it's not right that Allan Border plays with a helmet grill! I couldn't even change the wicketkeeper gloves colours for the World XI which was annoying.
