And now Chris Lynn not even playing! Have to feel for the lad. Hope he can keep his confidence up.
Australia have almost wasted that first powerplay, far too much backing away from Finch & White.
Yes this is one of the problems. Your Top 3 in T20 score all the runs and therefore when you go to pick a 'best of' side for Australia you end up with a lot of guys who like top 3. Bailey's about the only guy who wouldn't want to bat there in that side you've named. Wade, Watson and Maxwell...
See I think it should, and a good rankings system might find a way to punish teams for not playing enough Test series eg. what if the Test ranking system simply tallied the number of series wins against each team, home and away, for the last 5 years. There would be 18 points up for grabs (vs...
If Flower was getting stale, then his replacement really should be as un-Flower-y as possible. Less emphasis on analysis, someone that isn't a robot, perhaps a genuine Englishman.
I probably like Angus Fraser of any of the names suggested thus far
Hasn't helped Australia find the next Shane Warne...:( He was supposed to have reborn leg spin. I guess he has in a way, since there is no shortage of overweight Dad's trying their Shane Warne imitations down at the park each summer :D But producing a great leg spinner? Hasn't happened yet.
Bangladesh have had a pretty good 3 years since last World Cup, and on paper they should make Group A the hardest to qualify in. The trouble for Bangladesh though, is that it's been a long time since they've been to Australia. The foreign conditions may be quite a handicap for them.
Play Parnell instead of Peterson and have Tsokeile, 4 quicks, and Duminy as primary spinner? It would lengthen the batting a little at least, having Parnell at 8, Philander 9. Although Peterson is probably just as good a bat as either of them on reflection.
Had to LOL at Josh Hazlewood getting man of the match last night. Did they watch the match?? He had 3.4 overs 2/30 before those last 2 balls of the innings. Most expensive bowler is MOTM :facepalm Thought Starc and Muirhead clearly outbowled him. Bailey and White deserved it over him as...
Faulkner certainly might work in Tests, I'm just not particularly impressed with his raw skills. Kinda reminds me of how I wasn't impressed with Peter Siddle about 4-5 years ago. Siddle wasn't particularly fast, didn't move the ball much. I think Pete's larger issue was accuracy though, he...
See I don't see the time frame as a problem. I think results 4 years ago should be worth less than 1 year ago, or is your complaint that the rankings need MORE of past history? ie. 6 or 8 years worth.
My problem is that I think the weightings aren't right: Most of the teams are within 40...
It's certainly possible the new coach is worse - Flower has done an excellent job overall. But new ideas may be just what England needs. As an Aussie, hopefully they get new ideas...but from an awful coach who corrupts England for a little bit longer :spy
It's a pretty small sample though, hard to draw real conclusions from it ie. 70 overs for Ishant in those 4 countries over 3 years of cricket isn't very much really. Better numbers than Yadav though...wow
They've picked ALL the options haven't they? :lol It could be Elgar to boost the batting, a specialist keeper, or McLaren/Parnell. They didn't go for de Kock though...
Still think Australia would love to see McLaren or Parnell at 7. Duminy at 6 is potentially pretty shaky, it could be that...
Haha and just the other day I wrote off Hodge...I still don't like the selection, but it shows the selectors still regard him more highly than what I do :D I'd rather them play some of the bowlers in the squad and see what they've got. We've seen the 3 bowlers + 3 batting ARs can work, try 3...
I dunno, every time Hughes has been dropped it seems like he has done exactly what has been asked: he's largely fixed his technical fault that made him caught Guptill bowled Martin 4 times in a row, meaning he can now work to leg and discourage that exclusively straight line that bowlers quickly...
Lol, Platini - yes :yes
We've discussed this before about rankings - I don't think the rankings are perfect, but I do think they are better that what you think :p Anyway...will say this about the rankings system: when teams like Australia come out and say they are playing for the #1 ranking...
Playing for the Sydney Sixers.
Oh you want more? Well he hasn't really performed much this summer in Australia at domestic level, he's been OK, but nothing fantastic. He's behind others in the opener race for the T20 World Cup: Warner, Watson, Finch and Marsh. Now other guys are making runs...
^Lots of love for Rohit today! :D He's managed to get 68* thus far. Waiting to see how Stuart Binny goes. Just does not look an international player to my eyes, but you never know...I've definitely been wrong before!
