SA should open with Stephen Cook - Barry Richards | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Its obvious he has to play now. CSA already messed up Van Zyl out of position as a opener.

And Viljeon arguably the fastest bowler in the world right now yet to play international cricket is officially on stand-by now - CSA thinking at last. Just to to pick Cook now

Yea I would have loved if Vijeon based on the pace he is bowling with in domestic cricket - Alviro Peterson was hyping him on twitter recently Alviro Petersen sur Twitter : "If anyone watched this fella bowl yesterday @Hardus_Vilj you realise he is in the top bracket of SA speedsters atm...
Yes based on recent admission by Haroon Lorgat that - Haroon Lorgat on developing more black players in South Africa | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
"The only guideline is, if there's a genuinely fifty-fifty call and it's either A or B and A happens to be a black player, you select A."
There is a...
I don't see how SA playing 4 quicks would have caused them more trouble/prevented loss in this test - you could argue if they had a 4th seamer instead of Piedt - they might have had a more potent wicket-taking threat bowling to second innings when ENG were batting & Dumminy/Elgar could have...
Yea stefan we talk about this all the time & its notable that the cricinfo journalist who is supporter of transformation has felt need to write that article. Everyone know what SA has to do:
- AB don't want to keep because of work load issues and he done threatening to retire - let De Kock keep...
Amla faces a difficult road | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Ha for years as I've tended to argue in this thread - The Quota System | Page 3 - Cricket Discussion on PlanetCricket Forums that there will come a point where South Africa's reverse-racism "transformation policy" is going to catch up...
Morne Morkel denies AB de Villiers 'retirement' reports | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
I'm waiting for the day when this quota thing blow in SA face - it might indeed take a senior star player like AB retiring for them to realize the reverse racism quota policy is not sustainable @stefan @Rudolph...
Perfect side, would say ENG have no chance if such a team plays. But for now ENG will be right in it if Van Zyl, Bavuma, Piedt in. Although one could argue Van Zyl could be better if bats in his preferred # 6 position.
Cellophane Stephen Cook primed to answer South Africa's call | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo @stefan @Rudolph @Markkkkk
But Hudson has warned that they may be taking a risk given the quality of the bowlers they will be up against. "England have got a nice new-ball attack so it's about whether you...
Yea I expect the make-shift opener experiment to fail for SA in the first couple of tests. If Cook had made another big 2nd innings score his case might have been impossible to ignore - but just got to go back domestic cricket and keep scoring heavy..
Wow ha, unfortunately it seems many of you here (IND fans) are still holding feelings over the Nagpur test being called a poor & it perpetuating humourous delusions about this pitch being poor. :lol
I have watched majority of this test and it blatantly obvious that the surface has played much...
Would risk-averse FA gamble on José Mourinho as next England manager? | Daniel Taylor | Football | The Guardian
Why not I'd say @SpitfiresKent @Lee1981 @ste_mc_efc @ncfclee @StinkyBoHoon
I've let it go just like how KP has. Just highlighting that the ECB stance on KP has meant they had to go back to a player who has been exposed technically and has done nothing to show those faults have been corrected in the short space of time.
AUS didn't have Harris in Ashes and they didn't...
^^
Yea early days but although as the commentators are saying its probably one of greenest wickets seen in a long time (i'm struggling to remember one like this myself) - its certainly isn't playing like a scary green seamer one bit. Maybe if conditions were overcast it might have.
Yes I'm much aware of the batting paradises in IPL & we are likely to see much of that in WC. I guess i'm more inferring they might have some surfaces that will allow IND to play 3 spinners - but if it doesn't it just makes their overall chances of doing well less likely of course.
