I know people were praising the innings, but I know many people were criticizing the wicket because it was a sad sight seeing Perth - the historical greatest wicket for helping fast bowler play like a SC road & for a good years now I've been concerned as a AUS fan perspective that many AUS...
Since Readmission SA have played spin better than any non-Asian side, so even if one wants to say this a team without Kallis/Smith - SA never play spin this badly as they did in this series.
Yea hard to disagree with that and I've seen all SA tours to India live since 2000, all AUS tour since 98 and all ENG tours 2001 & the only pitch i remember playing up as badly as the wickets in Nagpur & Mohali was the AUS vs IND test in Mumbai 2004 & that was a under-prepared wicket for sure.
I won't say IND batsmen should be able to put up 400 at all, SA bowling attack is not weak by any means even without Steyn playing. The conditions of the pitch is making their ok/part time spinners in Harmer/Elgar look more dangerous than usual.
I agree somewhat that if...
If a pitch is turning day 4 or 5 standards on day 1 - its not good for cricket since that's a clear sign it has been under-prepared and even a joke spinner will get massive rewards.
That scenario you suggested is last I checked how a test pitch suppose to behave throughout the games history...
While I agree batsmen of this era when it comes to play high quality pace and spin in conditions that suit such bowlers have much deficiencies (a legacy of the FTB early 2000s era and influence of T20 of players techniques IMO) - I would dispute your contention that things related to...
I see this debate over the pitches in this series has been strong here as expected.

I agree with you pretty much. All I'd say is how serious a turner this pitch was is a matter of perception pretty much, but it was a normal a IND turner as I could remember - since I don't think IND would have balanced their side in such a way to picked 3 spinners on it.
Agree with Ashwin a bit, that tracking thing needs some adjusting. Many times I see it shows a ball will either hit or miss stumps and I'm questioning it. I remember that article you posted on this site couple months ago about ways to fix DRS - this very much relevant & someone at ICC should see it.
Sunil Narine reported for suspect action | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Well only thing I would say on this Narine issue now is that at least ICC are in crackdown mode we known umpires are braver now to call anyone they see with their eyes that look fuzzy to them.
