I actually hadn't realised players already had an Overall rating in DBC17 - haven't had a chance to fire up the Academy yet. That goes a long way to answering my concern, so thanks for that :)
This is all genuinely very useful and interesting, thank you!
...however this is just what I mean when I say stats should be standardised, so it's easier to work this all out. Maybe have an overall rating like in FIFA so you can tell if you're dealing with an elite player (85+ overall), or an...
I know I can just edit them myself, but on DBC14 it was impossible to put player stats into context without a baseline to compare against - I could never figure out, if I were balancing player stats, where on the bar would mark a top quality player, compared to just a good one. Should a top...
Has anything been mentioned about standardising player attributes? I personally find it really annoying when you manage to find the perfect player likeness on the Academy, only to discover that Moeen Ali has better bowling stats than Murali and better batting than Lara.
I know I can just edit...
Damn, wish I'd known about this. I'm Surrey through and through. Could do a lot of the County accents to be honest, but Surrey and Middlesex are natural. Sussex and Hampshire would be pretty much the same too.
Awesome stuff. Looking forward to giving it all a try.
Small issue (and pretty daft time to ask!) - in Career mode if you simulate you don't get to watch your player walk out to bat, you're put straight in at the crease/non-striker's end with no cut scene. Just seems a shame, is all.
If this...
There's no specific timing for the triggers or the left stick, they just have to be pressed by the time you play your shot with the right stick.
The right stick is the only one you have to time accurately.
1. Dodgy physics - weightless fielders who accelerate/change direction/stop far too fast as if they had no physical weight, and a ball that doesn't bounce off the stumps at all, it just stops dead. Sort the physics and we'll no longer have problems with ridiculous fielders and players throwing...
I simulate all the fielding. I only really decided to be a wicket keeper because I wanted to be a pure batsman but also wanted it to make sense that I never get dropped even when I'm scoring no runs.
I found it really jarring on my pre-patch career that I'd score no runs but never get dropped...
I restarted my career after the first patch came out. Now Wk-batsman coming in at 3 for Hampshire. My FC average in season 1 (just before the t20 starts) is around 45, which I'm very pleased with - best score was 147 off 92 deliveries.
ODIs are going well too, my average is around the 40 mark...
We should be able to check the weather and pitch condition at any point rather than just at the beginning.
The trouble with fielders is they have no realistic weight or momentum. They can accelerate, change direction and stop moving as if they don't weigh anything. So while a real player would...
Hit my first career century last night! The ton came off 66 balls, I ended up out on 147(92) holing out to deep square leg when I got too much on a leg glance. Partnership with George Bailey was worth 191. Pretty pleased.
Argh. Just got out 3 runs short of my 150 and 9 short of a 200 partnership. Middled a leg flick straight to deep square leg.
On the plus side that was my first ever career 100 (66 balls) so I'm pretty happy all things considered. EDIT - and we won by an innings and 88 runs, and I got MOTM too...
Is there a way to easily check the weather/pitch condition mid-match? If not there really ought to be in patch 2...
Also, something weird just happened. Chasing a low total in the 4th innings of a first class game, I was batting and approaching a 50. I got to 50* on the last ball of an over. We...
I've noticed that if you press the sprint trigger too close to the crease it won't make the player slide his bat in. The player will only slide his bat it you're already sprinting by the time he reaches the crease.
That doesn't mean you have to sprint the entire way but you do have to press...
This is pretty accurate for me. I gave it an 8 but looking at it objectively it's probably a 7 or just under if we're going with decimal points. There's plenty of flaws but the good stuff is so good that it outweighs the bad, and the fact I see the game being incrementally improved by Big Ant...
