Depends on how one seriously takes this loss.
My annoyance is more with the fact that we have got nothing to cheer for except cricket. I mean we did well in the Asian games but we still have a long way to go.
SA lost the semis but doesn't matter because their country won a record 4th Rugby...
Well there's no extra time in Copa America. After 90, you go straight to pens.
Given how much stoppage time is added on these days, won't be surprised to see extra time scrapped across other tournaments.
My point being, organizers are looking at ways of making it shorter, fast-paced, more...
Actually that was an incomplete post which I did not intend to post initially but I dint realize it got auto-saved. Okay, let me clarify.
I am from Bangalore and for some reason, the new generation of fans think standing by your superstar players, cheering them even when they get humiliated...
Well that's because the tournament was organized in India and obviously an Indian world cup will draw a lot more attention.
Attention span of the newer generation is very less. Bilaterals are rubbish and uninspiring. I mean why would you invest 8 hours on a game when you have better...
Well honestly, I'm not that fussed about yesterday's loss but this is just reality. Game depends on Indian viewership.
India transformed a dying sport into a sustainable sport with some help from England and Australia of course.
I would say that if India won the WC yesterday, it would've given...
Will ODI World cup even be the flagship event of ICC in another 4 years? I am not so sure tbh
There's already been a discussion on the schedule of some teams for the next 12-18 months where they hardly have any ODI cricket lined up.
I feel the next T20 WC in the US could be a really...
Also felt Australia cashed in on their post Ponting Era 'golden generation' big time.
2 ODI World Cups, one T20 WC and keeping the Ashes in Australia in between England's 'golden era' lol
Warner, Smith, Maxwell, Starc, probably Marsh and Hazelwood as well won't be there in 4 years time.
Inb4...
Fair enough but talking on the point of part-timers, I believe you definitely need to have that surprise element in your team. Bowlers that batters would likely go after which many a times results in a wicket.
Glen Philips for NZ for example. Travis Head for Australia. I would've put Maxwell in...
I'm not sure it's nostalgia entirely. I most definitely wouldn't pick this middle order of Iyer, Rahul and Sky over Yuvi, Dhoni and Raina. Big match big temperament players. Not to mention we had a 6th and 7th bowling option in the form of Yuvi and Raina while the current team has none. Balance...
Also for as good as Kohli has been in ODI's, I'll be really disappointed if he plays the T20 WC next year.
If we continue with this same strategy of batting around Kohli in a much shorter format, we're pretty much doomed tbh.
But given that it's in USA and given the pressure of advertising...
Honestly, I keep reading that this is the best Indian team ever. Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves?
I think this is the weakest International cricket has ever been. Look at the state of Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Teams you expect to play well in subcontinent conditions but their cricket...
Both DK and Ashwin were brought from the dead.
DK was working for Sky Sports and Ashwin had quietly transitioned to his post cricket career on his YT channel
I really start to wonder if this was Dravid's decision of having 'experience' in the lineup. I remember we did the same thing in the...
I say the big difference between England and teams like India is they have multi-dimensional players who are good in all facets of the game.
To be a good T20 team, you need atleast 3-4 players of that ilk in your side.
You can't be good just in one facet of the game and expect to win world cups.
