It feels like England just bowled better. I don't think it should be an excuse in this day and age, but I wonder how much helps that all the England line up (except maybe Woakes) have played BBL in addition to International series. I think India were definitely too cautious, Hardik really got them into the match but it looked like when the pressure of a semi or a slow start India reverted to their comfort zone. Didn't attack the spinners either.

England do have the better bowling lineup, India's bowling has been escaping a thrashing till now because of the MCG and Perth being extremely bowler friendly when they played there vs Pakistan and SA. I'm not surprised that they became tentative, it seems like the pressure wears them down and there was a clear lack of planning between Rohit and Kohli when they were trying to 'stabilise'. Rohit should have ideally been more aggressive.

The BBL factor is definitely a reason and one reason why India struggles in global tournaments. Pointed that out months ago in a post stating who could benefit from a BBL stint. Hales for instance has clearly targeted the square boundary well and has only gone straight when he knows the ball is piss poor or he can get enough behind it.

For 50 over Virat and Rohit are fine. One year is too small a window to build a new foundation from here

But the t20 team needs drastic changes. Too much talent are left to rot on the bench in favor of our geriatrics in this team
