The AFCON Sahara Shield, simply and commonly known as the Sahara Shield is the top-tier African Championship of Test cricket.
The tournament is organized by the African Confederation of Nations between full-member African nations every year.
The 2002/03 AFCON Sahara Shield was the second season of the tournament. South Africa entered the tournament as the defending champions.
Namibia hosted the tournament, hosting their first AFCON event since becoming a member nation of the confederation.
South Africa successfully defended their title after defeating hosts Namibia by an innings and 97 runs in the final in Windhoek.
