WCC Nations League (simply and commonly known as the Nations League) is the de facto World Championship of Test cricket.
The tournament is organized by World Cricket Conference, the global governing body of cricket, every two years.
2003 WCC NATIONS LEAGUE
The 2003 WCC Nations League will pit the Top-12 Test playing nations in the World against each other to crown the World Champions of Test cricket.
It will be the third iteration of the tournament. Guernsey won the inaugural edition in 1999, and successfully defended their title in 2001.
Guernsey will enter the tournament as the two-time defending champions, while Denmark will enter as the best-ranked Test nation in the world.
Originally slotted as hosts for the finals after a successful hosting bid, Egypt were stripped of their rights following their withdrawal from WCC.
Instead, the Nations League finals were then unanimously awarded to Sri Lanka, the lowest-ranked team coming into the tournament.
Since Nations League groups are awarded to the top-four teams in the Test rankings, Denmark were awarded Group A matches.
While hosting rights for Group B, Group C and Group D of the Nations League were awarded to Canada, Israel and New Zealand, respectively.
The top-four teams according to the Test rankings are obviously also seeded into separate groups so they do not draw each other until the semifinals.
