for more:

To sum up, Little teams played well, Ireland have some good talent. World Cup su*ked ass (not for aussies). 2006 was better. I hope 2008 is even better.

I'm kinda mixed, but went for the positive option. The World cup was a shambles, but some great big scoring games happened, plus it was kinda where Twenty/20 World Cup started. Lots happened. Overall it was good.

Not really the world cup was what it was all about and they screwed that up.

We lost 5-0 and embarassingly lost to India at home. It's not been very good for England in the Test arena. Our ODI performances have improved no end, but losing to India at home is just dire.

For Pakistan it has been a stop and steady year with the loss in South Africa. Then the humiliating early exit in the World Cup added insult to injury. However, the Twenty20 World Cup was a great one despite losing in the final, it was a great cup for us.

Yeah and if we lose to Sri Lanka now it'll top off a poor test year.

Indifferent to poor year for England performance wise, but then I'm used to that. World Cup was a bit of a flop and the sad death of Bob Woolmer that will never be forgotten. Nothing but a "Boating" incident from SuperFred, England's most important player. Poor domestic CCh performance from Kent (OK the T20 win was a supreme highlight) and the non existent British summer all should count towards a poor year for cricket in my view, but I still enjoyed it. Any year where there's an Ashes contest is a good year (ok, it only just squeezes in) and I think the World T20 was a smash hit, so it goes down as a good year.

World Cup was a very bad experience for India and Pakistan. But T20 definately made up for any lack of entertainement in World Cup.

Also India won series in england after long time. Good year for India.

+ves:
T20 WC. (India winning = Huge bonus)
Some good ODI cricket here and there.
Murali's record
ICL starting up
Great spirit shown by Ireland

-ves:
IPL and ICL likely to clash, that isn't going to be good.
Deaths of some great cricketers, and coaches.
World Cup 2007
ICC's shambolic handling of Zimbabwe issue, terrible World Cup, and a few more stupid rule changes (Why don't they just scrap the Powerplays already? And now they removed offering the light)

I'm saying the cricket was good, but other factors made it not a very good year.

Good

- Twenty20 World Cup.
- Hayden's complete dominance in ODI cricket.
- Murali getting destroyed in Australia.
- India & Australia ODI series.
- Ireland defeating Pakistan in the World Cup.
- Phil Jaques hitting his 1st Test Century.
- The upcoming Boxing Test Match - India vs Australia.
- Shane Bond's bowling.
- Atmosphere during the India vs Australia Twenty20 Semi Final.
- Hayden hitting the biggest six I've ever seen off Joginder Sharma.
- Graeme Smith hitting a Test Century for the 1st time in 2 years.
- Sreesanth's dance after hitting Andre Nel for six.
- Dale Steyn frightening New Zealand.

Bad

- McGrath, Warne & Lara retiring.
- Warne's record being broken.
- Bob Woolmer's death.
- ICL & IPL starting up.
- England's bad luck in Test Cricket.
- 2007 World Cup (50/50)
- Australia's idiotic selectors.
- Australia losing 3-0 in Chappell-Hadlee series.
- Mitchell Johnson's flukish luck.
- Michael Clarke getting given the chance to captain Australia.

Good -

Gillys World Cup Final Knock

Gillys soon to be awesome Boxing Day Test Century.

It has been an up and down year for Indian Cricket, the crap World Cup but then the amazing Twety20 WC, the England test series win, the England ODi series win......

I'd say 7/10....and I'm being generous, If we had even got into the next round in the 50 over WC then it would have been a 9/10...

Overall in international Cricket I'd give it 8/10, the likes of Bangladesh coming into the ranks, a new successful format of the WC, lots of new young players developing (Stuart Broad, Umar Gul, RP Singh, Shaun Tait), Muralitharan breaking a record.....I could go on for ever

Disappointing, wouldn't call it embarassing though.

Mixed year for me also, not fantastic, not awful. I'll always enjoy each Cricket season though, whether England do well or not.

I edited the poll, it now says Dunno rather than Donnu, which I imagine is an emu from Doncaster.
