This match is a dead rubber for Delhi who can only play for pride after a disappointing tournament for the bookies favourite. They come up against the other fairytale team in the Cape Cobras who like T&T, have yet to be beaten. Should they maintain that record they will go up against NSW. A loss will pit them against the high flying T&T so Cape Cobras have a lot to play for in this match.

Delhi's strong batting lineup on paper has failed to fire a shot all tournament. Dilshan and Gambhir have a combined total of 66 runs between them. Sehwag produced that same total in Delhi's only win against Wayamba. Without the star batters firing, Delhi has failed to make competitive totals leading to their two losses. Delhi have missed AB De Villers and David Warner but other teams with lesser players have performed indicating the lesser known Delhi players have let their team down. Their bowling lineup have struggled to make an impact after Nehra lost his Champions Trophy form and Mishra has been less than effective.

The Cape Cobras came into the tournament under the radar but JP Duminy changed that perspective with his amazing 99 against Bangalore to chase down the sizable 180 total posted. From there on it has been smooth sailing for both the batters and bowlers with contributions from captain Pattrick in the game against Otago and Davids against Victoria. The bowlers have worked as a team to restrict the opposition.

Team information
Neither side have any injury of note. Cape Cobras should go into the match unchanged although they may give Plaatjies and Levi a run.

Cape Cobras: AG Puttick*, D Brand†, H Davids, JP Duminy JL Ontong, SA Engelbrecht, S van Zyl, VD Philander, RK Kleinveldt, CW Henderson, M Zondeki

Delhi may look at giving the whole squad a game. Sangwan, Nagar and Salvi could get some game time.

Delhi: TM Dilshan, V Sehwag, G Gambhir*, KD Karthik†, MK Tiwary, R Bhatia, Y Nagar, A Mishra, A Nehra, DP Nannes/A Salvi, P Sangwan

Levi has being injured for the whole tour and so there's no chance of him playing.
It will be interesting to see if Langervelt is back because the Cobras will need him come semi final time. It will be hard to drop Brand after the start he gave them so maybe gibbs will come in for someone else.

Shouldn't you guys have replaced Levi then?
Surprised Gibbs is still available thought he was gone for the tournament.

Cobras making a mess of this chase. To be fair the pitch doesn't seem easy to bat on.

I'm reading the toss as, "Let's go out there and play on this pitch in the worst possible condition - if we come away with a win, sweet, if not we won't have to come back and try to do it again".

they didn't particularly want to win that imo.

could come back to bite them, that seems a very south african thing, think about getting themselves into a really good position and then standing around slack jawed when everything goes wrong.

wouldn't be totally surprised if T&T demolished them in the semi finals.

It was a game of perfect outcomes. The loss means they avoid having to play another game at Delhi and so they might say good riddance to that, but if they had won, they would have played the semi final there and would be able to take form into it.

Dilshan fails again, lol. His luck streak is over. Back to the average player he really is.

He bowled like a demon though. I think its funny how a lot of kiwis dont like Dilshan. Maybe it has something to do with that 2020esque 90 he hit in the Test match recently against NZ

And then there is one unbeaten side left in the tournament. Delhi low score could be put down to no Sehwag but it seems it was about right in the end. Gibbs was a waste of space again, he would have been better off staying injured.

It's more his stupid beard and gold necklace, but the runs didn't hep his cause either. Especially in the fashion he got them in. Comes off as being a bit of a show off and up himself. but that's just a spectators perspective, I don't know him.

As I said a while ago Dilshan was doing exactly what McCullum had done the previous year - had a golden run of form. Now that form is over he is back to being an ok cricketer however the cricketing world will still talk him up for years to come like they have done with McCullum.
