4th Match: England v Sri Lanka (Group B)

Yea, England don't really have any finisher down the order.

That's why they should play Adil Rashid, he is pretty handy with the bat and is a good spinner, but then again playing two spinners on this deck would be pointless.

even if the wicket helps fast bowling , malinga bowled it at 150ks last time. should be good

Ya but Srilankan batting will be tested and mendis and murali might not be as effective.

They're playing against England. They'll be effective.

I want to see us go in with:

1. Andrew Strauss *
2. Joe Denly
3. Ravi Bopara
4. Eoin Morgan
5. Paul Collingwood
6. Matt Prior +
7. Luke Wright
8. Stuart Broad
9. Graeme Swann
10. James Anderson
11. Graham Onions

Not a great team by any means, but it's the best we can do I think. Shah has to go. At least Collingwood and Bopara offer something in the field and with the ball. Shah can't bat, run, field or bowl particularly well. I think Prior would be best off down the order as well. Easier to find gaps as the field should be spread when he comes in, which should allow him to score at a decent enough pace. Onions has to play ahead of Sidebottom as well, Sidey looked terrible against the Aussies.

The game will either follow one of 2 patterns:

1) England will bat first. Start nicely with Strauss and Denly. One of them will throw their wickets away, which will bring Bopara in. He'll look pretty, play some glorious shots but then throw his wicket away in the 20's. This will lead to a collapse, with the run rate plummeting with Prior and Shah inevitably following Ravi in the order. They'll then throw their wickets away, and we'll be left slogging at the end in the batting powerplay with Jimmy and Onions. All out for 180 with Sri Lanka chasing the target with ease.

2) Dilshan and Jayasuriya will blast away early, with the opening bowlers going round the park. England will never recover except for a spell of 5 overs where they pick up 2 quick wickets. After that it'll go downhill again, with Sri Lanka eventually making over 300. England will again start nicely with the bat, before the collapse begins and we capitulate to 150 all out.

In other words. We've lost.

Tough for England, it will be quite interesting to see how they face Mendis, Murli... Sl is doing well in recent past, while Eng had lost 6-1 series just few days back, though they have won last match,if Eng wins the toss and manages to get around 300 then it will be interesting, chasing i dont think they are very good..

Looking at this pitch I'm expecting a low scoring game, if Sri Lanka can make 200-220 they should be fine. England are going to find Murali and Mendis tough to face in the second innings.

Wahey! Good start by Onions to recover from the 5 wides, simple catch for Prior. Sri Lanka 7-1 after 1.4 overs.

This pitch does look juicy, hopefully we can capitalise on it. Dilshan has looked all out at sea, so far.

Interesting to note the speeds here. In England Onions was around 145K's for the most part, but he's only around 135K's here. Dodgy speed guns I say.

And Dilshan's out. Game on.

England has the upper hand...pitch is helping them...Good toss to win
