The point of this game is to connect one player to another with exactly 6 players in between, no more, no less. You can use matches both players have featured in, family relations, team mates/coaches/staff, and commentators/umpires present in that match.

For example, if I were to link Sourav Ganguly to Lance Gibbs...

Ganguly's debut was against England, in a match where Mike Atherton was captain.
Atherton himself made his debut against Australia in 1989, a match where Mark Taylor scored 219.
Taylor's debut was less sucessful, although it was a match where his skipper Allan Border took 7/46 against the Windies.
Allan Border took over from Kim Hughes as Aussie skipper.
Hughes played his last official test against the Windies, where he was LBW for a golden duck to Joel Garner in his final innings.
Garner took his first Test five-fer under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd
And Clive Lloyd cousin was...Lance Gibbs!

There we go, Ganguly to Gibbs.

I'll post one to start off with, and the person after me can have a crack at it, and post his own once he is done. No rules as such yet, apart from the above mentioned. Maybe only mention when two players played in the same match if one of them did something extraordinary/was the skipper or captain/was making his debut or in his final test, as to keep it more challenging.

Alright, so my challenge is to connect RSA's new call up Vaughn van Jaarsveld to the the greatest batsman of all time, Don Bradman.

Begin! And be creative!

The overwhelming popularity of this game has taken me by surprise! And to think, I came up with it all on my own...

Vaughan van Jaarsveld's T20 debut was in 2004 in a Titans v Lions Match, he was dismissed by Albie Morkel for 2
Albie Morkel was runout by Hamish Marshall on his ODI debut
Hamish Marshall was dismissed for a duck by Jahid Ahmed in his last county championship game
Jahid Ahmed took 4 wickets in an Essex v Sri Lanka tour match in 2006, the first was Sanath Jayasuriya
Jayasuriya was born on June 30, 1969. June 30, 1899 saw the first Test Hat-Trick in England, taken by JT Hearne, dismissing Australians Clem Hill, Syd Gregory and Monty Noble, all for ducks
Monty Nobles last test was England v Australia in 1909 at The Oval. Scoring a century in both innings in that match was Warren Bardsley
Warren Bardsley was one of the greatest left handed batsmen produced by Australia. Only 2 Australian batsmen have surpassed his total of 53 centuries, AL Hassett is one and Don Bradman is the other.

Will that do?

Vaughn van Jaarsveld was born February 2nd, 1985.
On this day, West Indies and Sri Lanka were playing out a World Cup match at the WACA. The highest score that day was 101 by a Hilary 'Larry' Gomes.
This score has been surpassed 16 times, with Damien Martyn holding the current WACA-high of 144*.
Martyn's 144* seems pittance against Saeed Anwar's 194 for Pakistan vs India at Chennai.
Chennai is, of course, home to the Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
MS Dhoni took over the captaincy after the BCCI were recommended to him by Sachin Tendulkar, who bowled Mark Ramprakash in December 2001. Ramprakash played his international cricket for England, (before embarking on a dancing career), who were playing the 1st Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium on 25th February 2001, the day, sadly, Don Bradman died.

I'll let Kev dish out the next 2 cricketers, he typed quicker than I did.

Ok, lets start with Bradman and get to Joe Denly then

Bradman played for both South Australia and New South Wales.. Similar to current SA players Daniel Christian and Aaron O'Brien

Both O'Brien and Christian were captained by Simon Katich during their time at NSW

Simon Katich was dropped from the Australian team during the 2005 Ashes series

He was recalled to the side during the West Indian tour in place of an injured Matthew Hayden

Matthew Hayden then toured in India the tour after once coming back from injury

India happens to be the place where Joe Denly first toured in an England Under 19s tour

-----

Ok umm... Joe Denly to Mark Waugh

That was...a strange way to do it Griff :p And you only used 4 players...

Denly's debut T20 came against Middlesex, a match where Kent skipper Andrew Symonds (yup) belted 112 from 47.
Symonds was a part of the Deccan Chargers IPL team. Oddly enough, Afridi was a part of both the Kent and Deccan Chargers sides. I guess these two get along well then. Anyways...
Afridi's debut included the fastest ODI century at the time, against Sri Lanka. His performance overshadowed a fine 115 from Saeed Anwar.
Saeed Anwar's highest ODI score of 196 came against India, he was denied a 200 by Sachin Tendulkar who had him caught by Ganguly.
On the subject of Tendulkar's bowling, his best test figures of 3/10 came against South Africa in a match where, oddly enough, VVS Laxman opened the batting (with Wasim Jaffer).
Laxman highest score of 281 came against Australia, a match were Steve Waugh paid him the accolade of not knowing where to bowl to him.
And Steve Waugh's brother is...Mark Waugh!

Dun dun dun!!!

Okay, Mark Waugh too...Heath Streak.

Joe Denly plays his county cricket for kent along with Azhar Mahmood
Mahmood made his debut against South Africa his first test match wicket being one Hansie Cronje
Cronje passed away on the June 1st 2002. At that time England won by an Innings against Sri Lanka. Top scorer in that match was Marcus Trescothick
Tres made his debut against West Indies and bowled by Courtney Walsh. Walsh made his debut against the Aussies, In that match Allan Border made just 15 and 6 and the Aussies lost by an innings.
Border's last match came against South Africa in 1994. Steve Waugh top scored in the Aussie first innings with 64 and of course Steve Waugh's twin brother is Mark Waugh

------------------------------------
Mark Waugh to Graeme Pollock

EDIT; Zorax clearly beat me to it then.

Mark Waugh's last test match was against Pakistan in 2002, a match where Ricky Ponting scored 150 in the first innings.
Ricky Ponting's uncle is Greg Campbell
Greg Campbell's test début came against England in 1989, his first test wicket was that of Derek Pringle.
Derek Pringle's highest test score was 63, against India in 1986. The only England player to beat his score in that innings was Graham Gooch.
Graham Gooch's highest ODI score was 142 against Pakistan, in that match Phil DeFreitas scored a duck.
Phil DeFreitas T20 debut match was Leicestershire v Yorkshire in 2003. batting with DeFreitas in that match was Darren Maddy.
Darren Maddy and Heath Streak both played for Warwickshire in Streaks final T20 match for the county.

Ok, so Heath Streak to Planetcricket's Sports Personality of the year Shivnarine Chanderpaul please :)

Oh do we have to use 6 players... i just thought it was 6 sentences sorry

I think this is a good thread, certainly worthy of a higher place than NET&G here, so I shall be moving it to CC. Along with the other Cricket based games. When I find a bit more time I shall have go at some linking!

Edit: I don't have access in this forum...:(

Streak to Chanderpaul

Heath Streak captained Warwickshire for the 2006 season, with Ian Bell playing under him.

Ian Bell made his debut vs West Indies in 2004, a match which Steve Harmison was man of the match for taking 9 wickets in the match.

Steve Harmison made his debut vs india in 2002, a match which Parthiv Patel also made his debut.

Parthiv Patel played alongside Sachin Tendulkar in Parthiv's last game for India last summer.

Sachin Tendulkar played in a Lancashire team containing Michael Atherton.

Atherton captained England in the match which Brian Lara made his infamous 375*. One of Lara's team mates was Shiv Chanderpaul.

Chanderpaul to Inzamam, please :)
