A bat-pad catch, snick to slip and a perfect day of Test Cricket

Funny thing is, even when my Legend career fast bowler speed drops from the high 140's into the 120's-90's (usualy looks like it's a perfect timed bowl but that's the speed that comes up.. I suspect it might be confidence related), wickets are still able to come by.. usually due to being crafty with my swing and cutters.

Try playing a casual Test match and you will know. I picked 3 pacers in my team and all of them were knackered before lunch on Day 1, and were pretty useless thereafter. I had to mostly bowl my spinners - one regular and a part timer - rest of the match

Yeah i dont think its anything to do with me, only thing that does hamper speed is jumping too early but but im pushing the line every ball!

Very annoying when the new ball bowlers are bowling like spinners!!

The score card reads very good but 2 obvious issues can be seen in both the videos.

1st Video: Should have been caught by the fielder at silly and not by keeper. (would have been perfect)

2nd video: It is clearly visible that fielders reaction speed need to be reduced, in super slow motion mode you can see that fielder at 2nd slip stands up and was looking at the ball when the ball is not even passed the slips. This is impossible and that reduces the fun.

Speaking of physics, I smashed a delivery from a spinner straight at the non striker, and the ball popped up to mid on and was caught. Very nice stuff.

I also love when the ball hits the batsman's pad or body and dribbles towards the stumps. The game is not without it's flaws, but little moments like that show it's excellence.

Had a nice wicket where the batsman smashed the ball into the bat-pad's head popping it straight up in the air and the bat-pad, after gaining his bearings, grasped it one-handed just before it reached the ground. I had a good ol' chuckle to myself

I have a feeling that the drop in pace also has an effect on the frequency of edges. Beginning of day I was getting a few but as the pace dropped off I have not even been offered a sniff!

How are you finding the best way to get edges is? I've been bowling outswingers just outside off but from the video it looks like you are pitching them up and a bit wide of off getting them to drive?

I am not a hard critic of the game in fact just the other way round. But its a cricket game and cricket is game of perfection and these tiny things does matter when it comes to cricket. I am sure in future version Bigant will have time to fix these issues because they have achieved so much with this version to improve in coming versions.

I just wish this franchise last very very long like FIFA and we see new game every year with improvements.

Mix it up but to be honest, i find an away swinger but start it straighter seems to do the trick!


This is a big problem my seamers were bowling sooo slow it looked ridiculous!!

Also dont underestimate the importance of shining the ball. Could be my imagination but i have looked much more threatening after!

If your seamers are bowling too slow id suggest the release is a little early. However mid 70's is still too low!

Gayle bowled beautifully lots of drift not much turn on a flat decl tho!

One great dismissal where it hit Petersens edge then looped up and landed on the bails!

Adjusting the bowling speeds probably won't be a simple fix. If the gameplay is balanced with these slow bowlers, it may be thrown out of balance if the speeds are corrected. People are already complaining about bowling being too easy in career mode, and you wouldn't want it to be made any easier.

Somehow managed to see off Steyn and Philander before Tea. Pitch is flat!

Yeah if 75mph could be bumped up to 80-82 i could handle that as it is saying 30 degrees.

If you release too early i was dropping to 65mph! Fine lines!!

As a match goes as far as pacing etc this is superb!

The drop off in speed is actually seeming game breaking on tests. It renders a pace attack virtually limp after only a handful of overs. It isn't such a problem on T20s and ODI (although it does become noticeable), but in Tests it's crippling.

The cause for the AI being bowled too easily seems to be a lot to do with the AI. They tend to throw the bat around a bit too much, often resulting in LBW or bowled (and being caught in the deep of course). It does seem odd that despite this they simply don't edge many. It all seems a bit middle or miss. It does look like they'll have a job on their hands to rebalance that for a future patch, but ultimately something isn't right when the most common mode of dismissal (edge behind to keeper or slip, should be about ~45% of dismissals) is a rare enough occurrence that people make threads when it happens more than once in a match (I'm averaging about an edge to slips about 3 times per 2 innings at this point, should be closer to 4-5 per innings).

Hopefully they can sort out the AI though, and stop them giving away their wickets as cheaply. In turn with better all round batting they need to make sure that they are actually capable of edging it more often, particularly with good bowling, but we'll see what comes of that in the coming weeks. At this time I'm yet to see them confirm that they recognise it as a problem.

So if the AI is giving away wickets too cheaply, and hence its scores are too low, if your bowlers are made to bowl faster then logically the AI batsmen will score even less.

So by upping the bowling speeds (at least reducing the declining gradient) will need to be compensated for by stronger/smarter batting.
