Grant Thomas goes, and Lyon In


No, its not Garry Lyon. But the name of Ross Lyon will coach the St.Kilda Football Club in 2007. Former coach Grant Thomas has been sacked as Coach, after a feud with President Rod Butters, which gave the ex Bomber, the sack as Coach. Ross Lyon will bring new idea's and stratagies into the club, which has finished in the top 8 in the last 5 years, and yet havent managed to play or win a Grand Final. The last Grand Final the Saints played in, was a loss in the 1997 Grand Final against the Adelaide Crows. The Saints will announce their Leadership Group and their Full list for 2007 a little later on.

Nick Dal Santo named as Saints skipper.

St Kilda have named their captain and vice captain for season 2007.
23 year old Nick Dal Santo has been named as captain along with Lenny Hayes who will be vice captain.

Coach Ross Lyon announced how that he’ll continue the rotation policy of the captains this season. “We’ll keep the rotation policy. Next year someone new will be skipper. I think this is very good and we also used it at Sydney to good affect.”

Dal Santo also showed how happy he was to get the captaincy.

"Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this season. It's a great honour to be captain of this great football club. Hopefully we can go forward and win a premiership this season."

Dal Santo has been awarded with the Captaincy after a brilliant 2006 season.

Well the Saints will go into this match with a very good looking squad. Only just a few players are not regulars in this Saints team. Sam Gilbert is making his Debut today, Barry Brooks is playing his 1st game, since round 3 last season. Fergus Watts is playing his 1st game for the Saints after returning home from Adelaide. And new Saint, Shane Birss is starting on the bench, after crossing from the Western Bullldogs last season.
