Afridi back on form maybe?,

Afridi doesn't have form. He's a situation player and instead of putting in consistent performances he just has one-off special matches every now and again.

If he thought about playing properly he might get runs.
He has a good eye and is capable of being proper batsmen and not as a slogger.
He will then be much more useful for Pakistan.

Every player has form. It's a real shame that he's so inconsistent but that's the game he plays, and in his own words, 'you either love or hate me for it'. But it's too early to say whether he's back on form- And now that he's off to Hajj he won't get any more match practice before the S.A tour. He's turning more religious and one can't help but think that he's just not got the same passion for the game anymore, but we'll have to wait and see.

If afridi wants he can be one of the best batsmen in the world

he just has a nrain rush for some reason and gets out

wonder how many times hes been bowled or lbw?

hes technically very sound

what does religion have to do with losing passion for the game....one can be passionate about the game and be religious....you know religion doesnt have to effect you game.....but any way who cares if he's going to be in form for ODI's...he was a twenty20 player even before twenty20 was thought of....its going to be great to watch him hitting big in the twenty20 world championship....he should just focus on twenty20....thats just his game he's a twenty20 specialist....not so a specialist in ODI or tests though

Maybe you should think before running your mouth. Religion plays a huge part in some people's life, and eventually the start losing interest in the game. Take Saeed Anwar for example, after the untimely death of his daughter he turned religious and over the years lost interest in cricket until he finally gave it up. Afridi too is turning very religious and perhaps doesn't have the same passion for the game anymore.

As for Afridi being a Twenty20 specialist, that type of statement shouldn't even warrant a reply. It's so stupid and naive, but let me clear this up for you: Afridi has performed at both ODI and Test level and there's no way he can't do it again. He would never be just a Twenty20 specialist; the man is too talented.

Afridi- A Twenty20 specialist! :rtfl

and maybe u should calm down buddy, hes not runing his mouth hes just trying to make a point and as for your example of Anwar i would look at Yousuf and its a total oposite of what your saying. you cant make a argument with just one point, id sugest that u compile some info and than run your mouth. maybe u need to think before running your mouth.

I think with Anwar the death of his daughter would have been what affected him the most.

Don't try patronising me. I know fully well from a source who knows Afridi personally that his mind is now more towards religion than cricket. What more information do you think I need? I think it's you who needs to go off and think before making crass statements.

Afridi a T20 specialist?
Why? Don't you think he is talented enough to do well in Tests and ODIs?
Look at Mark Ramprakash, killer in T20, FC AND OD games.
Afridi is like KP. They both don't seem to have form. It all seems to balance on their mood and the situation.

really and you're sure the source is reliable? whatever you need to clam down before blasting at people....point i was making was religion doesnt move people away from the game....its the players who do....like someone said saeed anwar turned away from the game because he was devastated by his daughters death....as for religion look at the other members of the paki team most/some(how you look at it) looks religious but doesn't affect their game....it doesnt have to be just for muslims look at others some are religious and some are not-of them some are into the game and some are not so into it.... to do with religion....

not saying afridi isnt good enough to be test or odi player just saying he's more suited for twenty20

How can you be sure that religion doesn't have any affect on any player's passion for the game? That's just plain obnoxious. And yes, this source is very reliable- And if you actually had the sense to watch some of Afridi's latest interviews you'll see what a different character he is now compared to say, 10 years ago.

And why is he a Twenty 20 specialist over other types.
Hitting a four or a six can be done by anyone, it just requires a lot of effort.
Tailenders can't do it as they don't have the technique in their head, so it's harder and requires a more conscious effort. Having good hand-eye co-ordination or being talented means a little less effort needed.
So why do you say Afridi will be better at T20? Cause he can put in more effort in a small period of time than others? I bet Sachin, Lara, Ponting, any highly skilled batsman would be great in T20. Look at Ramprakash, one of the best batters in T20. Being strong and being able to hit the ball hard does give and advantage, but doesn't mean that only hard hitters like Afridi will be successful.
Afridi could be great in Tests and ODIs if he concentrated more, that's what makes batsmen greater in those formats.

You have obviously never seen Monty bat :p

As for Afridi, he isnt a T20 specialist (although he would be awesome at it) but the way he plays means he isn't very successful at Test level especially, and ODI to an extent.

One innings does not mean a return to form, we will have to see if he can sustain it. The thing is, he only hit 49. Yes it was off 19 balls which is very good, but if for example Flintoff hit 49 for Lancashire at the moment I don't think anybody would say he has returned to form even if he did hit it off 19 balls
