As for atheist discussion, it is not meant to convert one type into another.
The post simply presents facts from both atheist and theist (belivers of god) point of view.
Read it again. It is clearly designed to present the atheist as the villian of the piece. It is an incredibly bigotted piece of literature, designed to show the "evil" atheist getting his comeuppance at the hands of the religious person. It is not at all designed to show "both points of view" and let the reader decide for themselves. There is a victor in the argument, and it is designed so that the religious person makes the atheist look stupid.

It's aim isn't to convert people, no. It's a modern parable designed to show religious people that if they have the courage of their convictions, they can overcome the "evil" atheist enemy.

There are many "students arguing with the atheist professor" urban legends such as this one. This particular example is the mildest one of them, one ends with a marine shooting the professor just for being an atheist.

You may not have posted it with any intended malice, but nevertheless it remains a bigotted piece of work, which you would do well to apologise for posting on a forum whos rules specifically prohibit posts that incite discrimination on the grounds of religous beliefs (or lack thereof).

Agreed. Yes, it is a good arguement, but it has a victor. It's biased to those who believe to those who don't. It's forcing those who don't believe to belive.

Why should he apologize when you yourself say that he did not post it with intended malice ? And you're a moderator and could've closed this thread instead of yourself getting involved in the argument.
