Speaking of women, they already have broken the 200 barrier :) Belinda Clark with 229 in Mumbai, funny enough no one has got even close to that mark since.

I feel Pietersen could do it if he got his game back. He's been no where near as good as once was in recent years. McCullum possibly made a great knock of 158 in T20 so 200 in odi is possible for him. I don't think an Indian will do it just because it's India. Damn them:p Seriously I think an Indian player would bottle it. who knows really could be someone you'd least expect to.

I wasn't going to put women, but I thought I'd heard of a good ODi score.

To be honest, KP isn't doing any worse than 2005, its the age old arguement of player development.

Back on topic - I agree McCullum has the best chance, however, I think Dhoni is quite capable if he gets in early. Yuvi also probably has a chance, if you can score 6x6's, you've got bottle.

Why isn't Sri Lanka in the list? Sangakkara gets my vote.

As it is, I voted West Indies, because I think Gayle is also in with a shout.

Raiphy Gomez.

Watch this space.

I just don't think Sanga will have the ability to do that. Not ability within himself, but the Sri Lankan team. I don't think he can afford to give his wicket away whilst slashing his was to 200.

For India -

Sehwag - would get out doing something silly
Gambhir - not aggressive enough (Suprisingly)
Dhoni - In with a chance but usually doesn't bat high enough
Yuvraj - Again, could do it but doesn't bat high enough. And usually ends up getting out.

The top four barring sachin. I think Gayle has the best bet personally.

Ali Brown, playing for Surrey in England has scored two double tons in limited overs matches in county cricket, including 268 in one game.

Brendon McCullum's 158 in the IPL showed what is possible.

Chances are it will be an Indian batsman who does it first, flat pitches, short boundaries, and big hitters like Sehwag, Yuvraj and Dhoni mean they are most likely to do it.

Gayle is also a chance, being a big hitting opener.

I doubt Yuvraj will ever get the chance, if the pitch is flat enough for him to do it the top order batsman won't leave him enough overs.

You already beat me to it with that post mate. I find it intriguing that no male has yet managed it.

Virender Sehwag or Yuvraj Singh.... Dhoni in his current style of play can never do it!

Among other countries, McCullum, Gayle or Pietersen.

Brendon McCullum will do it, on one of those flat pitches in NZ with ridiculously small boundaries. He's made a massive OD score in domestic cricket, and is due one in an ODi, my bets would be placed with McCullum.

Couldn't agree more with you here, Dan. McCullum should be able to do it on the New Zealand grounds and pitches.

Pietersen'll never do it. He bats at 4 and if the pitch was flat enough for someone to make 200, then you know people like Strauss, Bell and Shah would waste 20 overs getting in and getting out, leaving KP 30 overs to score 200, not gonna happen.

Ravi Bopara could do it if he opens. He made one for Essex last year so is capable, and hes definitely got the talent. Just needs a run in the side!

Yeah, It's kinda weird. It's good that he takes more responsibility with his batting now but he has sacrificed a lot of his aggression...

I definitely think there will be at least one in the next 10 years. I just hope I am watching it. :D

There are plenty of players capable, some are hidden in state cricket, some are playing against the best. Gayle, McCullum, Sehwag etc are all the best chances, because they bat high up the order, usually opening ( I said usually because McCullum doesn't always open). Not much point in going further, it has pretty much been covered in this thread, smaller boundaries etc.
